The three acres of land surrounding the Fritz home---is
quite a contrast to the rest of his neighborhood.
His house can't even be seen from the street because of the
c0
heavily wooded area and the undergrowth.
But according to Fritz the neighbors w-re all for him---
when he asked to have a jury trial----hopirg to end what he
calls "nearly 3 years of harassment" by the city---to get
him to keep his land cleared.
Though the city issued various notices----to cut the weeds--..
he insisted weeds are "unwanted plants"----ad he wants
every plant growing on his property.
30 The area is replete with the wounds of numerous birds and
insects. And some authorities have found rare types of
foliage growing here. Fritz----claims this isn't just a )U
question of cutting the ;;rass------
SOF HERE MAY B POSSIBLE -----ON HIM ?EF!RRING TO 3IRDS, ETC.
Aftar he scored a victory in last week's trial----some
city councilmen charged he's getting preferential treatment.
Since then Fritz has suggested the city weed ordinance be
rewritten, exempting areas from being mowed if the owners
are caring for----ad workin;. to make their land a nature
preserve.
When I asked city attorney Alex 3ickley about such a possiblity
he said he doubted it would be legal-----adding that such a
provision could be unfair to those maintaining well-wept lawn.
But, Fritz feels Dallasites would benefit from both kinds.sNED FRIT
