Four Area 5 cities -- Deuton, Greenville,
Garland and Bryan -- clong with the Brazos
Electric Co-op of Central Texas, are seeking to
solve their energy needs hucg by purchasing a
natural gas field located in Denton and Wise
Counties.
The Texas Municipal Power will use the gas
to generate electricity if Lone Star Gas Company
is forced to cut gas supplies to each city's
municipally-owned power plant. Last winter,
curtailed service by koen Star forced the cities
to turn to fuel oil at a much higher cost.
It's believed the field will supply the
cities with gas for their boilers for betweenthree and eight years.
