'Color Computer Weekend' proclaimed in Fort Worthby Amy Arutt, Radio Shack National Publicity
Bob Bolen, mayor of Fort Worth, Texas, presented a
proclamation naming October 14-16 as "Color Com-
puter Weekend" in Fort Worth at Saturday's RAIN-
BOWfest keynote breakfast. RAINBOWfest is a
computer fair featuring seminars, product exhibits
and information on Color Computers. The fair was
held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Fort
Worth.
Mayor Bolen gave the proclamation to Lawrence
Falk, editor of RAINBOW magazine, which is spon-
soring the computer fair, and to Mark Yamagata.
Yamagata is director of merchandising, Personal
Computer Products, for Radio Shack.
The keynote breakfast was held at 8 a.m. in the
Crystal Ballroom in the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
"I am pleased to proclaim this weekend 'Color Com-
puter Weekend.' RAINBOWfest is a great opportunity
for people throughout the Southwest to learn more
about computers while enjoying the fine hotels, res-
taurants and cultural points of interest that make Fort
Worth a city worth visiting," Mayor Bolen said.
Of course, no visit to Tandy headquarters in Fort
Worth could be complete without a tour of the home of
the Color Computer, or "CoCo" as its fans have nick-
named it, Tandy Home Computers. Managed by Kenji
Nishikawa, it is the Company's showcase computer
assembly plant. Groups were able to tour the plant and
listen to tape-recorded messages at 10 stations scat-
tered at key points across the 110,000-square-foot
facility. Guests were able to walk through the entire
manufacturing process, from Incoming QC to Packing
and Shipping. Following the tour everyone got the
chance to meet General Manager Kenji Nishikawa and

speaker for the breakfast. Yamagata is director of merchandising,

obtained by contacting RAINBOWfest, P.O. Box 209,

until all are stuffed and the cycle is complete. Note that some sub-
assemblers are wearing special bracelets for electrostatic dis-
charge in order to protect all semi-conductors.The management team at Tandy Home Computers, home of
