naire. Their vocational choices and the influences were recorded; then
they were given a Hepner Vocational Interest Test to determine if
the influences had any effect on them in selecting the correct vocation.
The thesis is divided into an introduction, statement of problem, in-
fluences and factors bearing upon student's choice of a vocation, sum-
mary and conclusions, recommendations, and bibliography. The influ-
ences considered in the study were: age, occupation of parent, self-
selection, experience in occupation, personal observation, interviews,
school curriculum, influence of teachers, occupational literature, and
mental ability.

Association Is Achieving Its Objectives in the Thirteenth District of
the Congress of Parents and Teachers in Texas. Master of Science

The data for this study were taken largely from information
gathered from the records and reports on file in the home and office 9f
Mrs. T. R. Odell, president of the Thirteenth District of the Congress
of Parents and Teachers of Texas, in Haskell, Texas. In addition
were consulted various writers on the subject and reports by the
presidents of local associations in the Thirteenth District.
This study divides the problem into four divisions: first, the ori-
gin and growth of the Parent-Teacher Association; second, the rela-
tion of the Thirteenth District of the Congress of Parents and Teach-
ers of Texas to other channels of the National Congress of Parents
and Teachers; third, objectives and functions of the Congress of Par-
ents and Teachers; fourth, the achievements of the Thirteenth Dis-
trict of Parents and Teachers. About 34 per cent of the school units
in the Thirteenth District have a Parent-Teacher organization, and
each organization took an active part in the activities and projects
as set out by the National Congress of Parents and Teachers Associa-
tion during the school year 1937-1938.
