From President Lew Begley
The December tea at the home of Gene
Lulis and Jim Garnsey was delightful and all
who attended were regaled with fine drink
and wonderful food. The holiday atmosphere
and good spirits were everywhere, thanks to
our hosts. We so enjoyed it we are making
an annual affair of it and Gene and Jim have
agreed to host next years tea, so look forward
to December and The Christmas Tea.
DUES FOR 1994
1994 dues are $12 and can be mailed to
Jesse Rocha at 3056 El Tovar Circle, Dallas,
Texas 75233. Dues pay for the newsletter
postage, etc.
JANUARY MEETING
The January meeting will be Sunday
January 9th at 2:30 pm home of Lew Begley
at 1930 Wilkinson Road, Mesquite, TX
75181. Call 289-7107 if you need directions.
It is Bruton Road exit off LBJ 635, come East
on Bruton 1.6 miles to Wilkinson Road, go
right to 2nd house on left. The program will
be a video on the Washington, D.C. water
gardens and some garden shows off PBS
taped by Stan Aten. We will have punch and
cookies and dip. You don't need to bring
anything except yourselves for a good time
PROGRAMS FOR 1994
We have some good programs coming up
in the 1994 and hope you will participate. Ifyou have any suggestions for vacant months
please contact Lew Begley or Jim Garnsey .
FEBRUARY STAN ATEN will host the
meeting at his home featuring early bloomers,
crocus, daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, etc.
MARCH open
APRIL Lew Begley's place for spring Iris
tour of tall bearded iris and Louisiana iris.
MAY Bill Herndon and Lynn O'Daniel
have a super ranch meeting for us near Ennis,
Tx. There will be a bluebonnet trail and
those who wish can drive down Saturday
afternoon for a night at the ranch, or you can
come down Sunday for the meeting and
bluebonnet trail. Sounds great!
JUNE Water pond tour starting at Lew
Begleys and then on to Rockwall, Texas for a
visit to Jaymar's fish farm and auction of Koi
fish.
JULY Swim party at Lew Begleys.
AUGUST Jeff Tennal and Jesse Rocha
will host at their home for garden tour and
swimming.
SEPTEMBER open
OCTOBER Annual trip to Tyler Rose
Festival, we will have dinner in Tyler and
visit the Rose gardens.
NOVEMBER open
DECEMBER Annual tea at home of
Gene Lulis and Jim Garnsey.
MULCHED LEAVES
Anyone needing mulched leaves for their
garden can contact Cliff and Lee at 214-823-
2866. $4 for 40 lb. bag.1
