she's not perfect. But our imperfections
seem to fit well together. .
This house isn't exactly perfect
either. It's more than 50 years old and
boasts electrical outlets with no juice,
two-foot closets and a basement that
seeps not only in heavy rain, but in
heavy fog, too. The piece de resistance
is the big, old, wood furnace that belch-
es smoke and heats only the first floor.
Yet if I look to my left, the window
frames a river. I've been watching an
egret wade along the bank on its stilt-
like legs with a mallard couple dogging
- or ducking - its steps.

Kellie's mistake
To Dallas Voice readers who may still
listen to KISS-FM:
I just got off the phone with a very
nice man named Keith who let me
know just how insensitive I was in
making a comment regarding AIDS on
the show the other morning. In case
you missed it, I said something to the
effect of not drinking after a person
with AIDS if I have a canker sore. I was
trying to be my usual shocking and
controversial self, but I ended up
offending a lot of people. I want to say
I'm sorry to Keith, Keith's mother and
to you if you happen to be one of the lis-
teners I offended. I've been around gay
people and AIDS patients for a number
of years, and I know the intolerance
and misunderstanding that surrounds
people who fit into one or both of those
learned that not only am I not 17 any-
r -, I'm well past 30! Not for the first
t. _, I worked myself sick trying to
support my writing. As a consequence,
I lost my confidence. I had some health
problems. One of my symptoms was
the fear of travel. As symptoms go, it
could have been a lot worse.
All I have to do to stay well is sleep
at least eight hours a night. I have to lis-
ten to my body when it tells me I'm car-
rying too much fire wood. I can't work
at my job until 2 a.m. to give myself
time to write the next day. With less
available time, I've given up work I
categories.
I will try to think before I speak in
the future. And if you know anything
about me, you know what a difficult
task that will be. I'm paid to talk non-
stop for four hours, five days a week.
Some pretty stupid stuff leaks out every
once in a while!
Thank you and I hope you will keep
listening to our show.

Tell Sessions you support ENDA
Following your Nov. 14 publication
of Tammye Nash's article "Dallas
activist encouraged after meeting with
GOP congressman," I have had a num-
ber of varied comments. These lead me
to write and make clear the essence of
my meeting with Congressman
Sessions.
It should be distinctly understood
that my comments were neither an
endorsement of the legislator's record
nor his re-election. The sum and sub-
stance of that article is that I believe that
there is potential to move him, and we
must make powerful efforts to do so.
Whether one likes or dislikes the
Congressman's record, one must
remember that as long as he is the sit-
ting Congressman, he has a vote in the
because I flew cross country. I did it!
In the airport limo coming home, the
driver told me how glad and her
husband were, when they moved here,
to find a huge gay community. They
wanted diversity for themselves and
their kids. That's my kind of homecom-
ing.
As if my blessings were piled high
enough, our best friends are moving to
their dream home near by and have
invited us to Thanksgiving dinner. I'm
one lucky dyke. My dreams are of good
fortune for us all.
Happy Thanksgiving. V
House.
I encourage every lesbian, gay and
fair-minded person in District 5 (most
of Oak Lawn) to contact the
Congressman. To date he says that he
has received nearly 100 letters opposing
ENDA, and only about 10 in support.
We must change that dramatically.
Contact him and ask him to support
ENDA. If you are in a rural area, tell
him. If you are a heterosexual, tell him.
Contract Congressman Pete Sessions at
1318 Longworth Building, Washington,
D.C., 29515, or by FAX at 202-225-5878.

Do not be misled about Sessions
I have worked with John Stevens on
a number of community projects and
hope to continue working with him in
the future. However, I take strong
exception to an article in the November
14 edition of Dallas Voice describing his
meeting with Congressman Pete
Sessions.
After talking with John, I more fully
understand the intent of his discussion
of that meeting. However, that intent
did not come through in the article. I
cannot allow the gay and lesbian com-
munity to be misled about the nature of
