Dear Niles,
I wanted to write a short letter to thank you, again, for taking the
time to come to Dallas last week to discuss the 21.06 case. Your input was very
important to us.
The meetings we had with the board of Texas Human Rights Foundation on
Saturday and with Texas' gay leaders on Sunday were most encouraging. The
T.H.R.F. board adopted an agressive budget of $230,000 to pursue the case
when the timing is right. The gay leaders from around the state seemed to
take this information rather well. Everyone seemed to accept this sobering
reality and wanted to commit to its accomplishment.
As we gear up for these fund raising efforts, it would be most helpful
if we had some "named" personalities from the entertainment community of
Hollywood to help out in our efforts. We could use their participation in
a number of ways, i.e. speakers to attend fundraising dinners, cocktail
parties, or presentation of their skills as an artist (vocalist, instrumentalist,
etc.). Can you advise us as to how to make these contacts through agents or
friends?
Thanks in advance for your help. I look forward to future dialogue
and correspondance.
Sincerely,
Don BakerCC: Duke Comegys
