Article 12: Amendments to Bylaws
12.01 Amendments to Bylaws: These bylaws may be altered, amended, or repealed and new
bylaws may be adopted by the following process:
Bylaws amendments may be proposed by
(A) A one-third vote of the Directors (Officers) present at any meeting of the Directors
(Officers) with the proposed amendment then presents d to the members at the next
regular monthly membership meeting, or
(B) A one-third vote of the members present at any regular monthly membership meeting.
Bylaws amendments may then be ratified by a two-thirds vote of the members present at
the following monthly membership meeting.
Article 13: Political Action Committee (I/G PAC)
13.01 Political Action Committee: The corporation shall under the laws of the State of Texas
exercise its right to form a Political Action Committee (to be known as L/G PAC) and
shall register same with the Secretary of State's Office. Every member of the corporation
shall also be a member of this Political Action Committee of the corporation.
13.02 Endorsements: The Political Action Committee of the corporation shall form time to time
gather information regarding and/or interview candidates for public or partisan (party)
offices and then make endorsements when appropriate. Specific endorsement procedures
for each election will be approved by the members at a regular membership meeting prior
to any endorsement activities related to that election. In order for candidates to be eligible
for endorsement they must have requested endorsement and must have made an explicit
commitment in support of gay/lesbian rights. Reasons for or against endorsement for each
eligible candidate shall be discussed at a regular or special membership meeting and an
endorsement vote will be taken. A majority vote of the members present shall be sufficient
for endorsement.
13.03 Candidate Support: The Political Action Committee of the corporation may support
endorsed candidates with any combination of volunteers, funds, mailings, press releases,
advertisements, and/or phone bank operations designed to encourage community support.
13.04 Office Holder Communication: The Political Action Committee will communicate with
elected public or party officials from time to time as is necessary to inform them as to
community needs and wishes and to seek their support for the community's political
agenda.
