GROCERS 4:30
SOF SO? SOPSOF COMING:
You may have a hard time finding your local grocer
tomorrow, because chances are he's attending the
38th annual Texas Retail Grocers Association Conven-in Dallas.
The group's
president is Leslie L. Speir, who, along with
irs. Speir, is sampling one of the newest meat
products on display at the hotel. About 130
exhibitors have taken over the hotel's ball-room,
displaying the latest thing in food products and
grocery store equipment. More than 2-thousand
retail grocers are attending the convention, which
ends Tuesday. Congressman Earle Vabell, a former
grocer, gave the conventiontfkeynote address today.
MACHINE
President Speir is intrigued by a wondrous machine
that wraps meat, seals it, andY*mps a price tag
on the completed package, all automatically. Such
a dingus as this will soon make butchersobsolete.
