The Santa Fe railroad says it discontinue
all passenger service in Texas except for the Texas
Chief which runs I to and from Chicago. The
plan, if carried out, will leave Dallas without
direct Santa Fe passenger service, but the railroad
says coaches will take Dallas passengers to Fort
Worth to make connections. Trains operating
between Gainesville and Dallas, Ibetween Houston,
Fort Worth and Clovis, New Mexico, between Kansas
City and Fort Worth-Dallas would be discontinued.
The line says it also intends to remove all
mail service from passenger trains.
