Tlie editor has watched with ap-

interest in these offices hiiiI the student
body Is learning to fill tlie offices with
Capable holders.
INSTITUTK POLITICS.
When tlie recent elections were
brewing the editor was advisrd that
tome politics would be a good thing
for the students. It developed to a
Certain extent this .tear hut here is the

Necking is the present day expres-
sion that denotes the method that
.toung people show their affection for
one another. Tills expression lias come
Into use In the last )car or two and
Is tcry appropriate as )ou will agree
after )ou have cither tried it yourself
or hate seen some young couple In
action. Neck has become a very com-
mon word in this school and l.s used
to adt milage by the student laaly.
Some neck is tender and some Is
tough and whenever ou run across a
bit of the tender kind )ou had better
stick with it its tenderness Is u sure
sign (bat there hasn't been many ahead
of .ton. I hate sampled several bits
myself but bate found It all pretty
tough and as my teeth are bad Hits Is
bard on my iockct book as after every
trip I bate to go to sec my deullst.
Mut all is not pleasure as necking
also bus its evils ami many a )oung
man has found himself before the al-
tar as a result of his necking activi-
ties. The best place to catch a lilt of neck
is on the bank of some lake on a
moonlfl night. It seems that the moon
has some wonderful effect on neck as
)ou can lake some of Hie toughest and
in the moonlight It becomes tender.
According to some of the best Deck-
ers in tills school the best place is the
'serious room' at the girls dormitory
hut as far as I am concerned that is
a little too public for me. Prhacy
Is in my mind should go hand In hand
wilb neck. My ndtice to neckers is
that if .toil hatcu't any means of loco-
motion except your feet try to entice
the )ouug lady into strolling out to
Coggln Park on arriving there find
)ou a nice secluded spot and whisper
sweet nothings and have at it. If
some of the small boys of the tillngej
conic sntMiping n round find .ton a few
pieces of Irish confetti and playfully
toss II nt them if jou arc lucky enough
to connect with one of them they will
leate you alone maybe. The park is
recommended by Mr. 'Honk' Alex-
ander while Mr. Noble Prentice main-
tains that the 'serious room' is tlif
best. I hate been unable to obtain
Mr. Frank Stringer's opinion as yet
lm Welter Tidier claims that Hound
Mountain appeals to him. Our editor
of The Trail must think a lot about
.lones k Dublin No. '-' but I can't sec
how be docs as It is too public for
me but every man to his own liking.
(Tills Is confidential hope the editor
doesn't censor It.)
Necking Is emphatically denounced
by the ministers of the day. They
claim that it is demoralising to the
.touthful mind and that it should be
stopped by law if necessary. The
reason for tills to my mind Is that
they arc Just n little behind lime as
the same thing was done hi past )curs
only under a different name. Necking
has caused deaths but so bate auto-
mobiles buggies and other tilings. We
are now lit lug in the twentieth cen-
tury which is said to be the age of
speed and I don't think that even If
our ancestors did not catch a bit of
neck under some other name that we
should be deprived of this pleasure.
As a conclusion to this article I will
say In the words of that great states
man Patrick Henry "Olve me neck
or give me death."
