town and county, are at the head of
the undertaking.
Messrs. Buescher Sons have vim,
enterprise and the cold cash to erect
and run the electric light plant.
I beg to state that they will be well
patronized by (everybody in their
enterprise and it is" not" only be-
yond a reasonable doubt but is an
assured fact that they will be suc-
cessful and make a good percen-
tage on their money invested .in
said enterprise.
Messrs. Buesche’r Sons conduct
now one of the finest and one of
the best paying gins and oil mills
in this county and can with only
a reasonable expense put in the
electric light works. That is the
reason, “Slender Jim,” why M&il-
ton can erect an electric light plant.
Besides I must say that the town
of Moulton has enterprising citi-
zens and will patronize said plant
to the utmost extent. They knoMfc
good thing when they see it. If
the people of Shiner had the get
up and turn loose their money for
good sensible and valuable enter-
prises and improvements like the
citizens of Moulton they would be
able to accomplish the same as we
do. Such as oilmills, electric light
plants, etc.; but alas the good peo
pie of Shiner do not turn loose
their money for such good and
valuable undertakings and enter-
prises, that will help the town;
they have not the get up and do
not stick together to undertake
such gigantic enterprises like
Moulton. If Shiner had a few
Buscher Sons it is beyond an}'
doubt that they would lie able to
accomplish the same, but alas such
people do not reside m Shiner city.
In regard to “Slender Jim's” alle- j
gationthat heis afraid a torch light
prossession might frighten theciti- !
zens of Moulton must say, that 'our
Moulton people are just as civiliz- j
ed and up with the. times as the
citizens of Shiner city ; in fact I beg
to allege that they are away ahead
of Shiner, In regard to “Slender
Jim’s” kind adyice to wait with the
electric light plant until we had
attained the enormous population
of Houston, Galveston, San .An-
tonio,. Halletsviile and last but not
least Shiner, must say that I ad- 1
mit that the town of Moulton is at
present not quite as large as our
neighboring town Shiner city, but>
it is an assured fact and v beyond
any doubt whatever, that the town
of Moulton will have twice the
population of Shiner cit} in a \ei\ .iniy,2, Treasurers iominiH«iou...,.......... 5.3®
few years. Don't lie jealous of us, Jal,n Kioppenburg.
because we have enterprising citi-
zens who have money and are able
to put up all kinds of improve-
ments; you people are at perfec t
liberty to do the same, and it is
not the fault of the citizens of
Moulton that the good people of !
Shiner, on account of no vim, eh-;
terprise and unity, are unable to
embark m such undertakings and
enterprises as we do. We are here
to stay, attend to our own busi-
ness and have always the good will
to torn loose our money to support
good, sensible and economical en-
terprises and improvements, v
