Through their connections with
the Missouri Pacific Lines, and due
to the fact that the Gulf Coast Lines
will porbably soon become the pos-
session of the Missouri Pacific, a
new routing for Valley vegetables
has been made by the Gulf Coast
Lines via Kinder, Louisiana, and
thence via the Missouri Pacific to
St. Louis and other northern points.
In commenting on the routing, J. A.
Brown, general freight agent of the
Gulf Coast Lines stated to the Trib
une that ‘while the movement is
yet light, and with single cars, w.?
aa*e making sixth morning deliveries
in St. Louis, seventh morning de
liveries in Chicago, tenth morning
deliveries in New York, etc.”
Later on, when the movement is in
volume, says Mr. Brown, and from
one to two or three hundred cars per
day are leaving the Valley, many
trains will beat that schedule by one
day. In the past several seasons
the preferred route for the move-
ment of Valley vegetables has been
through Baton Rouge in connection
with the Illinois Central. The Mis-
souri Pacific connection is a dupli-
cation of that service.
