Aged Man Expire* Seated on
a Beer Keg.
Dallas, Dec. 31.—“Come here, boy,
and rub my throat; my palate is about
to choke me to death!”
The negro porter in the saloon of
Murray Fisher, near the courthouse,
obeyed. A man evidently close to
*ixty years of age made the request.
After the negro had finished rubbing
the old man said: “That Is better.
Aubbing always makes it feel good. A
couple of nights ago while I was in
my room alone I thought my hour had
come. I could not breathe on account
of my palate stopping up my wind-
pipe. There was no one there to -rub
it. However, it got better later.”
W. L, Horn, the day bartender, had
just arrived. Paying no further at-
tention to the conversation between
the white man and the negro he began
reading a newspaper.
It wa. about ten minutes later. Horn
had taken off his overcoat and hat.
Start’ng toward the restaurant end of
the saloon he noticed that the old man,
who had been seated on a beer keg,
was sitting on the floor not far from
stove. With his left hand in a pants
pocket and with his hat drawn over
over his eyos he seemed to be asleep.
Several men were standing about the
stove.
Peculiar droop of the man’s head
first attracted Horn’s attention. Horn
thought that perhaps he might again
be suffering with his singular ailment
and catching him by a shoulder pro-
ceeded to shake him, but the end had
come. Every effort was made to «!■
vive him. Doctors were called. All
said life was extinct. Not a sound nor
a groan did this man utter. He was
«eated in the midst of fellow mortals,
lie was seen to arise from the keg and
sit on the floor. He must have died
in that very act.
Dead man s name was J It. Winter
and his home Greenhall, Ky.

Dreadful Fate Overtake*
Many Children.
} Dubois, Pa,, Dec 31 —One of the
worst calamities known in this section
has taken place at Sykesville, not far
from Dubois, Home of Stephen Bro-
nosky, a miner, in some manner be-
came ignited, one report that it was
due to an overheated coal stove, and
was speedily consumed. Seven chil-
dren, ranging in age from two to
twelve years, perished in the flames,
and three persons sustained serious
injuries. Screams of the littles ones
were heartrending,
Hit In Ear by Roman Candle.
Paris, Tex., Dec 31.—At ( hicota,
this county, while some boys were hav-
ing a fireworks battle John Vander-
burg was badly hurt with a big roman
candle shot by his little brother, who
was standing two feet away. Ball of
lire hit John squarely in an ear, hit-
ting him with such force that he was
knocked down. Burns in the boy’s ear
caused him to have spasms and death
almost edsued. Physician was sum-
moned and the boy’s suffering was so
acute that some time elapsed before
opiates had any effect.
Many school children suffer from
constipation, which is often {tile
cause ol seeming stupidity at les-
sons. Chamberlain's Stotnacn and
Liver Tablets arc an ideal medicine
to give a chilli, for they are mild
and gentle ir their effect, and will

‘‘I have traveled for thirty
years continually. I lost a great
deal of sleep, which together
with constant worry left me in
such a nervous 6tatc that finally,
after having two collapses of
nervous prostration, I was
obliged to give up traveling al-
together. I doctored continually
but with no relief. Dr. Miles’
Nervine came to my rescue—I
cannot describe the suffering
which this Nervine saved me.
Whenever I am particularly
nervous a few doses relieve me.”
A. G. C. LIBBY, Wells, Me.
There are many nervous
wrecks. There is nervous pros-
tration of the stomach, of the
bowels, and other organs. The
brain, the kidneys, the liver, the
nerve centers are all exhausted.
There is but one thing to do—
build up the nervous system by
the use of Dr. Miles’ Restora-
tive Nervine. Its strength-
ening influence upon the nerv-
ous system restores normal
action to the organs, and when
they all work in harmony, health
is assured. Get a bottle from
your druggist. Take it all ac-
cording to directions, and if it
does not benefit he will return
your money.
