Think On These Things
K> KSTIIKK BI..U K KIM;
The beginning of wisdom cun be found in these four questions: "Who
am I? Why am I here’ What is my purpose in life? What am I going to do
about it?”
There's ho excuse for anyone not finding the answers The Holy Bible
reveals them; also the sages, wise men of the ages, have recorded this in-
formation Richard Cecil. English minister who died in 1777 at age 29,
said "There are but two classes of the wise, the men who serve God
because they have found Him, and the men who seek Him because they
have found Him not ” All recorded ideas on the subject of wisdom are
similar.
God is the source of all wisdom and if we would be wise, we must seek
Him diligently and earnestly "while He may yet be found” because He
tells us through the scriptures: "My spirit shall not always strive with
man.”
As one grows in knowledge it doesn't pay to be conceited about it, or, as
the Bible says. "Be not wise in your own conceit.” Quite often it is the one
who disclaims wisdom that is the wisest of all. If others think you are
wise, you might be, even if you don't think so. The more knowledge that is
gained sharpens the feelings of inadequacy and the realization of how
much more there is to learn.
The wisdom of one generation may be the ruination of the next or it can
be the salvation of it — depending on whether or not the preceding
generation had God-given wisdom or were wise in their own conceit. A
generation may gain considerable knowledge; however, the ability to
learn is not. of itself, wisdom Wisdom is knowing how to use that
knowledge in the right way.
Spurgeon, in the 18th century, wrote: “Many men know a great deal,
and all are the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a
knowing fool But to know how to use knowledge is wisdom.”
Most of the world's governments are in some kind of chaos. They must
have knowledge to have won, or taken, such high offices, but do they have
the wisdom to put that knowledge into action and use it in the right way?
Are they Godly men? Do they go to Him for help and advice?
