—Funeral services were held Sal-
tirday fr.r Tom J. Ruchanan, Na-
cogdoches aelmg postmaster who
died Friday of a self.inflicted pis-
tol wound,
Buchanan, r>.», died two hours
after he was found wounded at
his home with a pistol in his I
hands. No one witnessed the shoot-'
ing and authorities said no in-
quest would be made.
Hm-hanan was assistant post-
master here from 1913 until this
month when he was named act-
ing postmaster to succeed Mrs.
Mary Thomason who retired.

The district meeting of the Wes-
leyan Service Guild of the Long-
view district was held in the local
Methodist Church last week with
approximately 40 members of the
visiting and local guilds present
The tbeme of a retreat at 9 45
was Christian Attitudes, conduct-
ed by Mrs Thomas Price of Hen-
derson.
The local and visiting Guild
members attended church en
masse at Hie morning worship
hour At noon, luncheon was
served to the group at the Deluxe
Cafe, with Miss Alice Riley, dis-
trict secretary acting as mistress
