Congratulations are in order for "Boxii" WYonis and the
honor ho has brought upon himself Coach Moore and the
school "Roxie" has signed a contract with the New York
Giants professional football team for the coming season. This
could not happen to nicer guy. Congratulations and the best of
luck in your new venture.
Talking about football? Yes
let's devote a -little time to scrim-
mage that the Coach put the boys
through last week. I would say
that the two outstanding linemen
in last weeks scrimmage were
W. T. Stapler and Tommy Wat-
kins with Teaff Keese and Hoi-
laday giving them a push for the
honor. The most courageous
would be Patterson simply be-
cause he just kept getting that
bandage torn off his head and
then going ahead and playing
anyway. Billy Atkins would be
classified as the outstanding back
of the scrimmage but he was
pushed by Ratliff Wells Patter-
son Hayworth and Fox. Touch-
downs were scored by Atkins.
Fox and two by Wells. Extra
points were added by Wells and
Atkins. The final score was:
Reds 26 Whites 0.
Had a chat with Jan Free the
tennis coach the other day and
she said that there were four
boys out for tennis they are: Bob
Washam Jimmy Cribb Tommy
Smith and Don Davis (Davis is
not playing at the present be-
cause of a broken arm.) At pres-
ent Tommy Smith is the most
promising player. The girls that
are trying to make the team are:
Mary Nell Taylor Ruth Ann
Rhodes Ginger Walker Emma
Lee Hodten and of course Jan
Free.
Mr. Vannoy is looking for some
good golfers for his golf team!
The first match is coming up the
10th of April with New Mexico
A&M Hardin-Simmons and ACC.

the respective teams in the girl's
athletic program had a meeting
last Wednesday evening. The
meeting was called to consider
the forthcoming basketball pro-
gram which will begin this Mon-
day evening according to Mrs.
Ethel Trice director of the basket-
ball tourney.
It will be a round-robin affair
and good competition is expected.
men on the team they arc: Jerry
English Mike Bowden and Otis
Ratliff. None of these men are
permanent any time you want to
challenge any member on the
team you just contact Mr. Van-
noy. Vannoy needs five men ta
least. How about you?
That's the news for this week
and I'll end it by predicting the
winners for the American and
National Leagues for this next
season. They are: the Philadel-
phia "Phillies" in the National
League and the New York Yan-
kees to repeat in the American
League. I'm not a betting man
but I'll argue!

A "Kangaroo Court" was
held recently in chapel at
Howard Payne ColUege ac-
cording to the YELLOW
JACKET. Purpose was to
punish offenders and crim-
inals during Sadie Hawkns
Week. The jury was compos-
ed of twelve of Howard
Payne's most sober serious
and upstanding students. The
first case was against a couple
who were caught "smooch-

Kiva Dirty Shirts
Dominate 'Murals
In Both Leagues
Kiva continues to pace a field
of six teams in the men's intra-
mural fast league basketball pro-
gram while in the slow legauc
competition the Dirty Shirts
have the top rung as of the
moment. They are displaying
perfect record of a win and no
loss.
Two games were played in both1
league this past week; however
the scores of those contests did
make it into the War Whoop in
time for this yeek's publication.
