Burial services for
Miss Guadalupe Vera of
Jllos were held on Fri-
day, July 10 at the Sau-
ceda Cemetery In R1os
after a funeral mass
held at the San Fan-
cisco de Ases Catholic
Church. Miss Vera was
86 at the time of her
death and was the oldest
of the Vera generation.
Miss Vera Is survived
by two brothers, Ernesto
and Saturlno Vera, both
of R1os; and two sis-
ters, Veronica V. Carri-
llo of Benavides and
Brjglda V. Moreno of
Prjemont.

ed at the Mauro P. Gar-
cfca Funeral Chapel on
July 9. Mauro P. Garcia
Funeral Home was In
charge of the arrange-
ments.

Gloria P. Medina of Ar-

Martinez of Leander, Te-%
xas. Also surviving are
11 grandchildren.
Mrs. Palacios 1s also
survived by her mother
Cecelia El Ida P. Perez
and her grandmother Do-
lores P. Palacios, both
of Corpus Chrlstl. She
Is also survived by one1
brother, Fidel J. Perez
of Corpus Chrlstl; and
three sisters, Elda P.
Chapa of Benavides, Mer-
cedes P. Ysagulrre of
Corpus Chrlstl and Gua-
dalupe P. Utley of San
Antonio.

Former Representative
Canales Dies At 66
Amando F. Canales,
66, a former state re-
presentative from Duval
County died Wednesday,
July 15. Canales was a .
well-known landowner and
rancher 1n this section
of the country.
Canales served 1n the
Texas House during the
58th and 59th sessions
of the legislature, from
1963-1966. He represent-
ed Duval, J1m Wells, Jim
Hogg, Brooks and Starr
counties.
He had served as past
president of the board
of directors of the Fe-
deral Land Bank of Robi-
town; as a member of the
Premont School District
Board of Trustees; and
as a director of the
First State Bank of San
Diego.
Canales 1s survived
by his wife Betty Cana-
les of San Diego; one
son, Amando Canales, Jr.
of Premont; three daugh-
ters, Veronica Molina of
San Diego, Gloria Rincon
of Miami, Florida and
Rockellne Rexroad of
Brenham; and nine grand-
children.
A Rosary was heard at
the Mauro P. Garcia Fu-
neral Chapel on Friday,
July 10. Funeral servi-
ces were held at the St.
Francis de Paula Catho-
lic Church In San Diego
on Saturday, July 11
with enternment follow-
ing at La Juana Cemete-
ry.
