Dr. Don Jackson associate pro-
lessor of management sciences
published an article titled
Technology Hemorrhage in an
Open Society" in the first anniver-
sary edition of Business in the Con-
temporary World.
1 ne article hinges on the issue of
protecting American technology
from certain foreign governments in
the interest of national security.
The focus is on viewing the
American military position as sepa-
rate and apart from our economic
position.
Jackson said this view is faulty
because the technologies of today
increasingly have applications to
military and civilian use.
"To protect one and not the other
is no protection at all" he said.
Jackson said separating military
strength from economic power gives
other nations the international lead-
ership of technological advances
that once was in the hands of the
Americans.
"The Japanese advance at a more
rapid pace because of their team-
work Jackson said.
"We have watched the U.S. give
away our technological ideas to
Japan by wasting years in pre-
production" he said.
Another reason for the success of
Japanese technology is the irifome
percentage saved Jackson said. (
Japan totals a savings' of 18 per-
cent annually whereas the United
States brings in only 5 percent.
These totals are used for future
productions.

MY DEGREE GOT ME THE INTERVIEW.
ARMY R0TC GOT ME THE JOB.
Things got pretty competitive for this job. I'm
sure my college degree and good grades kept
me in the running. But in the end it was the
leadership and management experience I got
through Army ROTC that won them over
Army ROTC taught me responsibility self-
disciplino and leadership. Those are things you
just cant learn from a textbook.
I dont know where I'd be right now if I
hadn't enrolled in Army ROTC but I do know
one thing for sure. ..I wouldn't be here.
