DOLORES CRAIN GAGE, Big Spring; "My only
criticism of The DOINGS is that it always comes
in the morning---when I get home for lunch; and
invariably Ifm almost late at school because
I wonTt put it down till I have at least glanced
at all of it"I really do appreciate it."
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McKamey (out near the
Wise County line), came in especially to thank
me for these letters....They read them and pass
them around to neighbors. She was Lillian Wil-
kins (daughter of Uncle Charlie), and has a lot
of kinfolks in Denton.
.Mr,. & Mrs.. Albert L. Ford keep a file of
these letters for reference......They are com-
paratively newcomers to Denton. Fine people.
L. P. McCOMBS "retired" a couple of years
ago—-and he says he does not like it. Don't
ever retire completely---keep something .to do.
L. P. says his little grandson, Jerry., wants to
meat me, • - And T SUREUT want".to meet him.
FLOYD and SARAH ICENflOWER visited’us on a
Sunday afternoon.;. She- is teaching dn Fort, Worth
and he operates a- laundry-.J: ; ■ „ . -
OVER KBTV, "This is for we- fans." For WE.
ON THE EARLY BIRDS on WFAA, "filet de sole"
or "filet ,mignon"---something to eat; 'and the
guy pronounced it "fil-let".. A fillet'is a
head-band worn over the -hair, etc. .We all make
’effl!.My Chicago .daughter, Zelda Miller,
and. I play a game with that page in the Readers
Digest-about the" meaning of words ;...Wre usually
get.*about ,18^ out of the 20, but have NEVER made
a perfect score.....It's a splendid exercise.
THE BEST thing on WORK that I have read,
I got from "Mutual Moments" an insurance leaf-'r
let. I quote in part, "The joy of doing oneTs
work .as the purest, least diluted, most perma-
nent, divine and abiding joy of which a human
is capable..........For human blessedness is
not found in success, but’ in effort; not in ar-
riving; but in traveling, not in wages of work,
but in the work itselfI wish my grande
children—all ten of them--would memorize that.
I have not proved very many things, but the
truth of the above"quote", I have proven by my
own experience and the experience of my friends.
If you wish to be miserable, RETIRE.....Nobody
can force you to retire. The state can force
you to make another job for yourself. That's all
