JOHN POWELL
The Emmett Powells were
here from Eastland the other
day. John is 5 feet 8 inches—plus
what he has grown in the last
week.
THE CARLTONS
The Big Spring Carltons, Trav
and Emma Mae are spending the
week-end with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. O. R. Carlton, and with
her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs
E. J. Headlee.
MRS. B. P. ADAMS
Mrs. B. P. Adams, 73, passed
away at her home in Tulsa. For
many years her husband was
with the Federal Land Bank as
an appraiser, and they were very
active members of the First Bap-
tist Church. Loyd L. Adams and
S. D. Adams are their sons.
After moving to Tulsa, Mrs.
Adams wrote us: “We still love
Denton and her good people and
enjoy every line you write. The
paper is almost like a visit home.
Several of our neighbors, who do
not know you at all, read it
through and like it.”
IT DOES TAKE WORK
Our old friend, Joe M. Leon-
ard, long-time publisher of the
Gainesville Register was here
for the opening of Highway 77
and the banquet honoring the of-
ficials.
At the Southern Hotel he
picked up a copy of THIS WEEK
(as a hundred other people do
each issue). He looked it over
and remarked to the people with
him, “Maybe you do not realize
it, but there is a lot of work in-
volved in a thing like this.”
ST. CLAIR SWEET
Mrs. Art Sweet, of Houston, is
spending several days with her
grandson, Gary Taylor, and
other relatives.
BEN IVEY HAPPY
These have been happy days
for the last week or so for Ben C.
Ivey. His daughter, Mrs. Mary
Louise Ivey Thomas, has been

Ivey Ann. The baby’s father is
