A NEW FEATURE
FOR THE EMP1
•, • •*-. jjk
that the Empire will run
two columns of "State Items"
each week hereafter, similar to
the brevities shown in this is-
sue. ,
This feature is adopted because
some of our patrons do not get
any state paper and by this
means we ato enabled to give
them nearly all the news in a
condensed form.* The fact is
many prefer such news condens-
ed. Although theitems are made
aa brief as possible it wig be
found they contain the real gist
of the news in each case.
SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH
HAVING GOOD MEETING
-y__—
Rev. Joe Lockhart of Abilene,
pastor 'of the Second Baptist
church of Stephen ville, is doing
the preaching in a meeting be-
ing held at the City Park pavil-
lion bv his congregation.
Mr. Lockhart who is a brother
to our townsman J. T. Lockhart,
is known all over this and the
adjoining counties as a1 forceful
preacher, and as is always the case
in his meetings here quite a
number come from distant points
to hear his sermons. \
We are told by those who are
attending that Mr. Lockhart is
doing some of the best preaching
be has ever done here, and that
there have have been notable-
increases in the attendance from
time to time.
