Mrs. L. 0. Richards and son left
Monday to spend several days with
her parents in Royse City
J. C. Craddock and family spent
the week-end visiting his parents in
Red River county. He reports a fine
rain over the entire section which he
passed through on the trip that some
of the roads were very muddy and
they returned Sunday afternoon.
Oscar Polk spent the week-end in
Wortham. He was delayed until Mon-
day afternoon on his return to Van
on account of the washouts and high
water caused hy the heavy rains
which fell in that section.

Construction of a new warehouse
18 by 38 feet, was begun Monday by
the White Wholesale Feed and Groc-
ery Company. The building is located
alongside of the TAP tracks and
will be used for storing cottonseed.
Mr. White announces that he will be
ready to buy cottonseed by the end of
the week and has already installed
platform scales. Current market
prices will be paid to the farmers
and this should encourage them to
bring their surplus seed to market
here as it will save quite a haul to
any other place where they have

Have Enjoyable Meeting
The Van Lions had a very enjoy-
able time at their last regular meet-
ing as it was Ladies Night. A large
group was i nattendance and a very
entertaining program of music was
rendered by the Grand Saline Lions
Orchestra. Considerable fun was en-
joyed by the group as the members

Painfully Injured
Mrs. Kent, mother of Mrs. John W.
Mills Jr., fell Monday afternoon and
is suffering with a broken leg, as a
result. She was at the home of Mrs.
Mills when she fell and Dr. Barnett
was called in at once. Only one bone
was broken, it was set without dif-
ficulty and her leg placed in a plas-
ter cast.

and all had a very enjoyable evening

Labor Day activities were slight in
Van as far as celebrations were con-
cerned. The rains kept many at home
who would have attended celebrations
elesewhere.

Friday night an ordination service

church and Rev. J. D. Rushing was
ordained to the full ministry. The
Presbytery was composed of Rev. E.
M. Ogden, pastor of the East Van
Baptist church. Rev. C. L. Lackev,
nastor of the First Baptist church of
Van, Rev. A. D. Sparkman, pastor of
the Canton Baptist Church; Rev. C.
J. Youngblood, Smith County As-
sociation Missionary. Rev. R. G. Be-
hrman, pastor at Mineola, and Rev.
Dean of Tvler,
Rev. J. D. Rushing has been called
as pastor of the new Elm Grove
Baptist. Church which was recently
organized.
Robert W. Pitts, who has been lo-
cated at Howell with (he Humble
Pipe Line Company, has been trans-
ferred to Van and has moved into
the Mayfield house.
