Baytown Big Brothers Big Sisters program receives honors
Three representative from the
Baytown branch of Big Brothers
Big Sisters were honored recent-
ly at the Annual Volunteer
Recognition Luncheon held by
Susan Lennon of Channel 2, who
is a Big Sister in Houston.
^Volunteers Dolly Hill and
Sister of the Year. She was cho-
sen from the ranks of her peers
representing over 800 volunteers
throughout the Houston area.
She has been active as a Big
Sister for two and a half years to
her Little Sister, Krystal Cooper.
This distinguished honor is
strates positive impact in the life
of a child. Hill is employed with
Elf Atochem in Crosby.
Singleton, of Crosby, received
a plaque recognizing her as one
of the agency’s outstanding vol-
unteers.
In addition to being a Big Sis-
teacher.with 25 years experience.
Shane Neil, who was in the Big
Brothers Big Sisters as a Little
Brother in Baytown for seven
years, was a featured speaker.
After receiving numerous
music honors and ranked seventh
in his 1997 graduating class of
Brother was instrumental in his
development and in achieving the
success he has experienced.
He received a spontaneous
standing ovation from the crowd
of over 200 people. Shane has
been accepted into the University
of Indiana School of Music
of the Baytown Branch Advisory
Council. Big Brothers Big Sisters
provides adult support and men-
toring to children from single-
parent families so they can grow
into productive members of the
community.
