The Juck and Jill Nursery 1* in
a aenae u school for children too
young to attend kindergarten, for
here Hmull youngsters are learning
how to enjoy the companionship
of fellow playmates and how to
share toys and take cure of the
things they possess.
This nursery was started in Sep-
tember of 1952 and since that time
there have been 125 different
children in attendance. The aver-
age attendance each day is from
15 to 25 children.
Mrs. C. F. Miller of Gladewater
and Mrs. Carlo* Sutton of White
Oak manage the nursery and they
obtain extra help during the lunch
hour to she that each child has a
well-balanced meal and that each
ehild receives Individual-care dur-
ing meal time.
The nursery Is located next door
to Holcomb House on Upshur and
a playgpound In the buck of the
building enables the children to
be outside when the weather is
warm and pretty.
Inside they have many toys to
plav with and numerous books
which they can look at all during
the day. The youngsters are being
taught many stories and mother
goose songs and they are truly
enjoying the opportunity of grow-
ing up with other children. Some
of the little ones who attend the

nursery are regulars, meaning
they go every day while parents
work. Others attend fot several
hours a day or a couple of days
a week.
Just prior to the lunch hour,
after each child has u t shed his
hands and fact, they gather in the
reception room for songs and the
eld timey "quiet game." During
the day they are instructed and
supervised at all times by Mrs.
Miller and Mrs. Sutton. These two
fine ladies enjoy working with
children and they are never too
busy to listen to the stories of joy
and the heartaches of all the
children.
Story hour is a time when all
children gather round ono of the
instructors for a story-tellmg per-
