...Our Heritage From The
Heroes Of pan Jacinto...
Just Ninety-Nine years ago Sunday Sam Houston and his band of stalwart Texans defeated Santa Anna at the battle of San Jacinto in the
decisive battle that gave our Great State its Independence. Since that time Texas has enjoyed ninety-nine years of progress... ninety-nine
years of peace... ninety-nine years of prosperity for which all Texans should be thankful. East Harris County is especially thoughtful of
San Jacinto Day because it is so close to the site where Sam Houston fought against great odds and won for us. Most of the Tri-Cities places
of business will be closed Monday to do honor to the heroes of San Jacinto.
