With malice toward none and
an open mind for all the entire
staff of the Yellow Jacket is
earnestly trying to publish a
paper this year of which you
students will be proud.
We arc trying to give you an
unbiased survey of the activities
of Howard Payne College. It is
our intention to print the news
mixed with portions of editorial
fun gossip columns and view-
points. We realize that this
paper goes into the hands of
many different types of indivi-
duals. For that reason we sense
that it is impossible that every-
thing in every paper will be in-
teresting to everyone.

Naturally some names will ap-

often than others. We are at-
tempting to equalize publicity
but achievements deserve re-
cognition. Prejudice has no place
in our paper either in award-
ing someone undue recognition
or in being overezalous in criti-
cism. So we leave it up to you Yel-
Jacket fan. Are you satisfied
with your official college publi-
cation? Is it giving you every-
thing you expect from a college
newspaper? We will appreciate
any comments either favorable
or unfavorable on the paper
(Sit'n Bull excluded of course).
It is your paper published for
enjoyment benefit and use.

Miss Janette Kennedy former
Howard Payne student daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Ken-
nedy became the bride of Cap-
tain Vernon Cornelius son of
Mr. and Mrs. C- U. Cornelius in
a double ring ceremony at the
Prayer Chapel of the First Meth-
odist Church on Sunday after-
noon October 21 at 3 p.m. Dr.
L. A. Boone performed the cere-
mony. The bride wore a dressmaker
suit of royal blue. Her acces-
sories were of black. She wore a
corsage of orchids.
Meditations
Are men the same In every
generation like the one which
preceded it? The writer of Med-
itations believes that these two
questions must be answered in
the affirmative because If men
in the beginning were not like
the men that live now more and
different plans of redemption
would be necessary for the sal-
vation of the human race.
Assuming then that the sacri-
fice of Christ is sufficient for the
salvation of the whole world and
that His teachings apply to all
generations let us proceed with
some very impertinent facts. If
Jesus taught anything it was to
love God and to love our brother.

Twas on a cold day in Octo-
berthe air was warm like
Spring! The trees swayed in the
breeze and a buzzard soared
gracefully over head! Inside the
stuffy classroom the air was
heavy with the dull words being
uttered by the staccato voice of
the over-enthuscd tutor. He or
she (whichever the case might
be) would smile eagerly at the
pet student who kept awake only
by reading books and magazines
such as We Need Money by
Henry Morgcnthau Jr. and In-
come Tax Reductions by Bing
Crosby.
The silence was broken at in-
tervals by the snores of the
more interested students. It was
almost time for the class to be
saved by the bell when from one
coiner of the loom came an ir-
ritating noise. Pairs of eyes
turned to a pretty lassie on the
back row honestly unaware
that she was annoying the peace
fill sleepers. But glances of hat-1
red met her as she looked inno-
centlf about the room! Then
continued chewing vigorously
and enjoying the tasty cud that
hail so recently caused the dis-
turbance! Moral: Never chew gum so
loud that it will disturb others
who are trying to sleep through
a class.

him without authority and he
still injures him without cause
or reason. Is this the Christian
attitude? If it is Christianity
has failed miserably. How shall
we define that group that judges

were called Pharisees. Indeed
this group did the will of God

"Lord I thank Thee that I am

think It still exists.
Somehow I see Jesus the King
of Kings and Lord of Lords
teaching us great lessons in
humility and brotherly love as
He washes the disciples' feet as
He eats with publicans and sin-
ners and as He ministers to the
slums of His day.
We ought to forsake all the
vain philosophies of life and ob-
serve the teachings of Jesus.
Phariseeism needs to be correct-
ed. Some sound philosopher has
given us the following great
words: There is so much bad in
the best of us and so much good
In the worst of us that it be-

the rest of us. Think It over.
