World Day of Prayer, observed on Friday, March 3, 199u is an
annual event that unites Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and
other Christian women and men in over 170 countries and regions
of the world in "informed prayer and prayerful action,"-the motto of
World Day of Prayer.
This year’s observance marks the 108th annual World Day of
Prayer. A group of ecumenical Christian women from Ghana have
written the prayers and worship service for this year’s observance,
using the theme "The Earth is a House for All People." It has been
translated into hundreds of languages and dialects and will be
observed around the world in thousands of services on March 3.
The service, based on the parable of the Prodigal Son, tells the
stories of Ghanaian refugees in their struggles to maintain their
traditional extended families in the midst of national and community
upheaval. Through prayer, song, and symbol, the service calls
participants to recognize their interconnectedness as dwellers in
God’s world.
We hope you will join in this year’s celebration of World Day of
Prayer. We trust that this year’s service, and the Guides produced
with it, will enable all who attend to affirm God's earth as a "House
for All People."
To bring up a child in thef
way he should go, travel thatj
way yourself once in a while.
