voters approved an additional
quarter percent sales tax for
street maintenance The June
allocation of $51,493 to HSB
for sales dunng Apnl is up 21.5
percent over the June 2009 al-
location. but factonng out the
extra quarter percent tax rate
increase, the allocation is up
only 4 percent over June
2009
Also posting positive
monthly sales tax gains
compared to sales made dur-
ing Apnl 2009 were Cotton-
wood Shores (+80%), Llano
( + 13.6%), Johnson City
(+7%). Blanco (+5 4%),
Burnet (+4 7%), and Mason
(+1%). Marble Falls (down
2 08%) is the only Hill
Country city to post a de-
crease in sales tax revenues
on Apnl sales compared to
Apnl2009
Austin continues to lead
the charts for Texas' major
cities, posting a 3% increase
in sales tax allocation for the
period and a 5% increase on
the past six months' alloca-
tions Round Rock posted a
12% increase this allocation

Houston continues to post the
largest decrease in sales tax
revenues, down 8.3 percent

recommendations regarding
employment and/or
resignation of employ ees
The next regular meeting
is scheduled for July 19 It
is anticipated one of the
August agenda items will be-
an adjustment to current
investment policy
and the , city street
superintendent, the city will
not place the new stop signs
on Berry Street until such
time as improvements can be
made on a comer island that
would make the signs more-
visible to traffic

could take several months to
design and implement the
improvcments and that the
project may fall into the next
budget vear for the citv

discussed but tabled plans to
repeal and amend ordinances
dealing with burning inside
the city limits Current
ordinances do not follow
state laws as outlined bv
TCEQ and the EPA.
especially when it comes to
burning any items other than
brush
Also, a 300-foot distance
requirement must be
considered when awarding
burn permits Council
members directed the city
staff to come back at the
next meeting with more
infonnaUon. such as how it
will affect commercial
barbecue restaurants
In the meantime,
Farnsworth will begin
inspections of proposed
burn material before a
permit is awarded
Currently, a bum permit in
the city costs residents $5
but the idea of increasing
that fee was also discussed
The city will have a
special meeting Monday.
