Lake Buchanan
News
BY BOTH DEAL
1 know the residents of the
Lake Buchanan. Inks Lake,
Kingsland, Tow, etc. areas
will be happy to know that the
Clinic we've all worked so hard
for, will remain open during
the transition of doctors. Dr.
Dan Kelly of Burnet has kindly
agreed to see patients at our
clinic three afternoons a week
until we have our new. full
time doctor. He will be there
Monday, Wednesday and Fri-
days from 1:30 until about 5
p.m. The office, however, will
be open during all normal
working hours five days a
week to make apointments.
The Community Chorus that
is meeting every Thursday
evening at the Red Barn lias
added a few men to the group
and we are so pleased to have
them. We can always use
more, but we’re happy about
the addition. We are still in
need of altos or second soph-
rando<>o you gals with deep
voiced won't you drop by and
see if you wouldn’t enjoy
practicing the Christmas mu-
sic that we’ll be presenting at
the December Pot Luck Sup-
per. We do have fun and
Christmas music is a joy to
work on. That's every Thurs-
day evening from 7:30 to about
9 p.m. at the Red Barn.
Three of the churches in the
area had special programs this
week with the First Union
Church presenting Joy, a
iuveiy musical group. Chapel
of the Hills and its pot luck
supper that proceeded, the
business meeting and Church
of Christ Pot Luck Supper
tomorrow evening. The fel-
lowship and food is wonderful.
And the Red Barn will have
it’s monthly pot luck supper
this coming Saturday with our
VFD sponsoring it. They will
give us a better understanding
of what our department is,
how it functions, and how we.
in the public, should report a
fire in order to get the quickest
possible response. The supper
is at 6:30 at the Red Barn nnd
we do hope you'll attend as a
way of saying thank you for alt
the time, work and risks these
people spend to help when fire
endangers our community.
Just bring a dish to pass, your
tableware and come.
The Buchanan Community
Acflvities Bigrd of Directors
will hold its monthly meeting
this coming Monday at 2 and
they have lots to discuss. They
are the ones who see to it that
our community hak extra acti-
vities such as the Boy Scouts.
Hobbies and Crafts. Square
Dancing, Pot Luck Suppers
and are making plans to plant
trees on the Red Barn property
for more shade.
The board of directors of the
Red Bam will hold its monthly
meeting Wednesday at 7:30
and they, too, have a lot to
discuss. These meetings arc
always open to the public and
everyone it urged to come and
to express their thinking on
subjects pertaining to the Red
Barn Community Center and
its programs.
The Burnet County Genco-
logy will be having a big
outing next Saturday (the 23)
and I'll give you details next •
week.
Also, put on your calendar
the Lake Buchanan Arts and
Crafts Guild Fair for the 23
and 24 (Saturday and Sunday)
at the Guild Building. There Is
no admission to the fair and
inside you’ll find all kinds of
things to help you get started
on your Christmas shopping.
If you can spare any old beat
up towels, terry or otherwise,
the Red Barn would be happy
to refurbish them to be used in
the kitchen. We go through
them so fast that we can't keep
up. Many are used to mop up
spills from the floor so if they
are stained, don't worry, they
will do just fine. Just leave any
you can, near the kitchen and
we'll take it from there.
Thanks for all the help in the
past and we hope to see you
Saturday at the VFD Pot Luck
Supper at 6:30.
