What an amazing year! This fall many exciting things
have taken place at your University.
The Board of Regents met on our campus in September.
During that time, we
recognized three students for
their extraordinary
accomplishments, and also
conducted a groundbreaking
ceremony for our new
apartment-style student-
housing complex.
We continue to make
progress on our new science
building. We anticipate moving into the new facility
during the Spring 2001 semester. A grand opening
celebration is being planned for late spring.
In October, we had a chance to renew acquaintances
during Homecoming 2000. We had a great time
throughout the week, as well as the weekend. On
Saturday, crowds cheered the homecoming parade entries
despite the inclement weather. We also celebrated in the
success of the Centennial Campaign at a reception, where
Joe and Teresa Long made a two million dollar gift pledge.
The day continued with a spirited football game against
Abilene Christian University. J.W. Boren tied a school
record with five field goals, including the game-winner with0
09 f i r aGjust 1:19 remaining, as he led the Texans to a come-from-
behind 15-13 victory. Later on that evening we celebrated
in the success of our alumni and friends at the Distinguished
Alumni Dinner.
On Sunday, we had a groundbreaking ceremony for theMilitary Memorial.

of the University and
the Tarleton Alumni
Association, will be a
wonderful addition to
the campus as we
recognize those of the
Tarleton family who
have given so much to
their country.This memorial, through the
rOn behalf of the University, I would like to thank the
Tarleton Alumni Association for its part in making
Homecoming 2000 a success. It was great being reunited
with friends and family.
