of their daughter, Laura Elaine,
to Gilbert G. Thorne, in of
Houston. Mr. Thorne is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Thorne of
Corpus Christi.

End-Of-School Party
Given At Mahoney’s
Misses Patsy Mahoney and Carol
Ann Winsauer entertained a group
of their friends with a end-of-
school dance party at the home
of Patsy’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
P. B. Mahoney, on Saturday eve-
ning.
Dancing was enjoyed on the
lawn and refreshments of sand-
wiches, potato chips, nuts’, mints,
pickles, olives, cookies and Cokes
were served on the lawn.
Enjoying this party were Kathy
Knolle, Mary Wayne Koepsel,
Kathleen Stone, Sharon Gallagher,
Carolyn Knolle, Jimmie Lee Shiv-

Freshmen Room Mothers
Entertain Seniors Friday
The room mothers of the fresh-
men Class entertained the High
School Classes and the 8th1 grade
students with a dance at the gym-
nasium on Friday evening.
The table was laid with a green
cloth and centered with a crystal
bowl of red roses reflected on a
mirror.
Refreshments of sandwiches, co-
okies and cold drinks were served.

At Party Wednesday
Mrs. James Porter and Mrs.
John Tobin honored their niece,
Miss Sharon Dehnisch, with a
brunch and swimming party at
the Beeville Country Club on Wed-
nesday morning, v'-.a \
The table from which the brunch
was served was laid with a white
cloth and the centerpiece was an
arrangement of mixed carnations.

Stewardship Lesson Mon.
The Womens Missionary Society
of the First Baptist Church had
ircle meeting Monday .afternoon
for study on Stuwardship, the book
of “Sacrifice and Song”.
The Lottie Moon circle met at
the home of Mrs. R. D. Berryhill
with thirteen members present.
Mrs. Frank Dehnisch opened the
meeting with prhyer, and Mrs. J.
W. Nelson gave the lesson study
and the closing prayer was by
Mrs. Nelson.
Mrs. Bill Pinegar was hostess
for the Agnes Graham circle with
ten members present. Mrs. B. S.
Whitaker gave three chapters of
the study book.
The Edith Crane Circle was at
the home of Mrs. John Tobin with
five members present. Mrs.
James Franklin and Mrs. Ormand
Cox brought the lesson study.
A social hour was enjoyed after
the study by all circles.

been visiting relatives and friends
here the past week.
Bob Sears left Thursday for a
few days visit to his home in
Dodd City, Kansas.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Theile and
Mrs. Walter Leber and Mrs. Ad-
olph Bomer attended the funeral
services for Mr. Theile’s mother,
Mrs. N. J. Thiele, at the First
Methodist Church in Kyle, Texas,
Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Watson
and children, Dee and Irvin, spent
the week-end at the Sandy Re-
treat Motel in Port Isabel and
report having had a wonderful
time.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leber were
in San Antonio Tuesday on a bus-
iness and pleasure trip.
Mr. and Mrs. A1 Gardner and
son, Jimmie, left Wednesday for
Ferris, Texas. Mr. Gardner is a
broker for F. H. Vahlsing, Inc.
Mrs. Asa Spear and Mrs. D. C.
Brown from Corpus Christi spent
Wednesday here visiting relatives,
Mrs. Spear visited her sister, Mrs.
C. E. Horton and Mrs. Brown
visited with her son, D. C. Brown,
Jr. and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dickerson
have returned from a weeks vac-
ation and sight-seeing trip to Den-
ver, Colo.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Crane and
Mrs. W. C. Humble and his aunt,
Tuesday for several days visit
with Mr. Craned mother, Mrs. J.
E. Crane.

Bobby Wieland of College Stat-
ion is spending several weeks
with his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. C. Humble and hs aunt,
Miss Marilyn Humble.
Mrs. E. J. Crenshaw spent
Thursday in Corpus Christi. Her
daughter, Miss Jo Ann, from the
University of Corpus Christi, re-
turned home with her to spend
the summer vacation.
Tommie Simpson, from the Uni-
versity of Texas, spent the week-
end with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Simpson.
G. A.’s Given Party At
Church Friday Night
The Womens Missionary Soc-
iety of the First Baptist Church
entertained the Girls Auxiliary
with a banquet Friday night at
the church in observance of G.A
Focus Week. The Five-Pointed
Star is the emblem of the G. A.
organization and this theme was
carried out in the program and
table decorations.
The program included group
singing, presentation of the differ-
-elit phases of the G. A. work by
ten girls. A vocal solo, “Star in
the East” was sung by Miss Kar-
en Sue Dorris, accompanied at the
piano by Miss Eilleen Tur-
ner. The two queens, Carol Ann
Edmondson and Karen Sue Dori’is,
were presented wristlet corsages
by Mrs. Jimmy Franklin.
Rev. Jimmy Franklin brought
a missionary message “The Star
that Shines Around the World”.
The program closed with the
group singing their hymn, “We’ve
a Story To Tell to The Nations”.
Mrs. Glenn Dorris is leader for
the Junior G. A. ’s and Mrs. B.
S. Whitaker is leader of the In-
termediate G. A. group.
