Poetry:
"Only an artist can take an
everyday subject and make it into
literature."
These were the words used by
senior Lisa Powell to describe
Mrs. Susan Chinn and the talent
she possesses.
Mrs. Chinn will be the
entertainer at tonight's Talent
Night which will be free and
starts at 7 p.m. and will be over
by 7:45 p.m. These Talent Shows
are sponsored by Student Services
and they promote talent from
here on the campus. For further
information contact Dean DcGcer
or Lisa Powell.
The topic is "Everyday" and
the message is love which Mrs.
Chinn will be presenting through
her works of poetry.
"At 12 I wrote my first story
but 1 didn't think much about it.
Then at 16 I discovered I really
enjoyed writing especially poet-
ry." said Mrs. Chinn.
"Probably my favorite poet is
Langston Hughes. He was so
realistic and free in his writings.
But my real inspiration to write
poetry was God. I realized God is
a powerful person and I have a
reason and a message to write
that reason and message: Love is
the key to all things" Mrs Chinn
stated.
"God showed me that we are
just like the Earth. It has seasons
and so do we. But the only season
people don't like is Winter.
Winter is the time for death and

Winter because it doesn't want to
die." Mrs. Chinn related.
In July 1981. Mrs. Chinn lost
her grandmother and through her
death she saw an idea for a play.
It deals with the fact that many
grandmothers in the world feel
obsolete and worthless so they
rush into winter by almost literally
taking their own lives.
Basically. Mrs. Chinn's poetry
consists of current issues and
everyday situations. "I feci that
God is using me to show people
that through Him there is happi-
ness and love in this world.
Society creates the problems"
said Mrs. Chinn.

The man of peace wanted his
tombstone to read "1 have lived
for peace and I have died for my
principles."
Tomorrow we shall see if the
former President of Egypt Anwar
Sadat has his request answered.
On Tuesday Oct. 5 Sadat was
gunned down and murdered in
the streets of Cairo Egypt.
Sadat was gunned down while
Egypt was celebrating a major
anniversary for him the day that
in Egypt marked a "glorious Arab
victory" in the 1973 Middle East
War against Israel.
The parade which was going on
at the time of the shooting lasted
for only 90 minutes then at about
1:05 p.m. six Egyptian air force
jet fighters flew over-head and an
explosion went off young men
dressed in army fatigues leaped
from a moving vehicle and charged
Sadat. They shot him at a 20 yard
range.
According to the official Middle
East News Agency (MENA) de-
scribed his injuries as "two holes

Sadat had been under attack by
I Moslem fundamentalists who
claim he betrayed Islam and the
Arab world through his peace
talks with Israel which broke the
three decade-old Mideast wars. .
Withing three years after taking
office Sadat crushed one internal
revolt against him expelled 15000
Soviet advisors and began steering
Egypt away from the Soviet Union
and toward the United States.
This peace which Sadat
instigated is now in jeopardy but
if people follow Sadat's advice
"May God guide our steps!' the
peace may truly be an everlasting
one.
