Valentine’s Day
>; Although Valentine’s Day is
traditionally a celebration for
lovers, single women needn’t
|espair.
’ i “Valentine’s Day reinforces
the very common wish to be in
i {pve and five happily ever after,”
{xplains Herbert A. Fox, MD,
vice president of Clinical Affairs
at Grade Square Hospital in
-New York City.
£ Of course, few people realize
;this wish completely, and the
'further individuals are from the
!|deal state, the greater the disap-
Ipointment and envy of those im-
agined to ‘have it all.’
■'‘Whenever we measure
Idurselves against unrealistic ex-
Ipectations, we fall short. The en-
duing sense of disappointment
■often leaves us feeling blue,”
‘?aid Dr. Fox.
L This Valentine’s Day, when
reminded of the differences be-
tween our hopes for ourselves
j and reality, try not to take things
!; so seriously. Dr. Fox, explains,
!, “Valentine’s Day is only one
;; day, no'different from any
>; others. Our hopes and chances
! for falling in love,- having a sa-
!' tisfying relationship with
another person, and enjoying a
treasonable degree of happiness
;;in life are not affected by'
■ whether or not we receive a bou-
quet or roses or a box of choco-
lates today.”
