Teague Flower Show.
The ladies of Teague have de-
cided to hold the flower show on
Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18
and 19, in some suitable .building
in the business part of toWn, and
as the proceeds are to be devoted
exclusively to beautifying the
school grounds, it should and
doubtless will be liberally pat-
ronized. The small admission
fee of ten cents will be charged
during the day, and on Friday
night the charge will be fifteen
cents. -A short musical program
will be rendered at night.
The Chronicle is anxious to
see this first exhibit of flowers
prove very attractive. In point
of appearance our town has not
kept pace with its commercial
development, and we would like
to see it advance in this regard.
Let us show our appeciation for
the beautiful, and contribute our
mite toward making Teague a
pretty town as well as a busy
town.
There will be all kinds of blos-
soming plants and shrubs dis-
played, the chrysanthemum be-
ing given the^first place, as this
i$ the season of its flowering. ..
Every lady in town who has
flowers is asked to send them to
the show. This is her work, and
she should feel at perfect liberty
to do everything possible to make
the show a success, and not wait
to be asked .to take part. ■ ~ .
Booths will be provided for the
sale of chocolate, candy, and
other light refreshments, and
ladies aye respectfully advised
that contributions of cakes for
this purpose will be appreciated.
In addition- to the flowers,
prizes are to be awarded for best
loaf of lightbread, and the best
cake. tyet every person in
Teague visit the show. Every
penny of the Phoney will be used
improving and beautifying the
school grounds. /
Road Hands Wanted.
C. E. Johnson^ who has secur-
ed the contract to build the roads
in the Teague district, informs
the Chronicle that he is ready to
figure with all who desire to
work on the roads. He Will sub-
contract for any portion^ of the
work from a half-mile t6 five or
ten miles, and will want to hire
all the teams that he can secure.
Those who are interested will do
well to see him at once, as work
will begin very shortly. Mh-
Johnson is anxious to have as
much of the work done by home
people as possible, but he must
know very soon how many home
people want to take advantage of
this opportunity in order to make
his arrangements accordingly.
Send Products to Chicago.
Secretary Headlee of the Busi-
ness League and Cashier Riley of
the First National Bank spent
Tuesday in the Teague country
gathering specimens of. farm
products to send to the National
Land and Farming Congress, at
Chicago. It goes without saying
that they secured many fine
specimees, and Freestone county
will rank with the best in the
congress.
When the country learns more
about Freestone county, more
people will come here and till the
soil—and get rich.

ceived yesterddy by the sporting

know of no heavyweight here-
about, but if there be one, and
he is anxious to uphold the su-
premacy of the saintly Texas
Democrats against the wicked
Republican Indians of the erst^
while territory now called Okla-
homa, here is his opportunity:
Sulpulpa, Okla., Nov. 5.
