News from Town Hall
By Double Oak Mayor Mike Donnelly
www.double-oak.com - Town Hall - 972-539-9464
Hello from town hall. We hope everyone is
having a safe and wonderful summer.
Creekside, Knob Hill, Oakview, Rancho
Vista: The asphalt overlay on all four roads
has been completed. The project has greatly
upgraded the condition of these four roads. As
I have mentioned before, the road committee
and town council made a terrific decision to
bid out this project when they did and took ad-
vantage of the current market and most of the
bids came in under early estimated cost.
Simmons Road/Meece Gas Well Site
Well, there is a lot of activity, news and proj-
ects going on in town. Let’s go over some of
those in this month’s column.
Double Oak Public Works Projects
Pepperport Lane: Denton County has com-
pleted their rebuilding of the road and laying
of a new asphalt road surface. This work has
really improved the road surface for the resi-
dents who live there. Remaining project work
is being done by contractor. The town has re-
ceived positive comments from many Pepper-
port residents who are happy they have a new
road.
As previously reported in this column, the
Williams Company spoke at the May 17 town
council meeting to inform the public that they
plan to drill for natural gas from this pad site.
They stated they were working to secure min-
eral leases with residents of the town.
In the month of June, Williams submitted
site preliminary plans and applications to drill
for five gas wells. The preliminary plans in-
clude a request to enlarge the pad site to ac-

A burglar alarm went off three different times in j
one night at Faith Harvest Church. Police finally ;
determined that a motion sensor was set off by •
ceiling decorations that were being blown by an :
AC vent.
Police responded to a fireworks complaint in the ■
300 block of Redbud Street. One of the residents •
at the home told the officer that they shoot them j
off every year even though they know it is illegal.
A homeowner in the 300 block of Oregon Trail :
called police to report a three or four foot snake :
on her front porch.
Motorists spotted a large herd of goats wandering :
in the road near the intersection of FM 407 and j
Gibbons. The owner eventually got his goats.
Two men in the 1100 block of Mason Street in :
Lantana were fighting because one of the men j
was going through a divorce and was upset his j
estranged wife was confiding in her friends. The •
angry man eventually left the scene on a red mo- :
tor scooter.
