designated as the No. 2 Hill.
The well pumped 96 barrels of
bif per day, plus 57,000 CF gas
and 65 barrels of water.

CARROLL COBB

Services for Carroll Cobb, 66, of Lubbock were held at 2 pan.
Thursday, June 3, at First Christian Church with Dr. Larry Keefauver
of Trinity Church and Dr. Michael Passmore, pastor, officiating.
A graveside service followed at 5 p.m. at Gaines County
Cemetery of Seminole. Both services were under the direction of
Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
Mr. Cobb died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1993, at his
residence after a lengthy illness. He was under Hospice care.
He was bom June 18,1926 at Seminole. He graduated from Allen
Military Academy at Bryan in 1943 where he served as Cadet
Colonel of the Corps his senior year. He was commissioned as a First
Lieutenant at Ft Benning, Georgia, in 1943, and also served as
artillery instructor. He was one of the youngest commissioned
officers to serve in the Army. He graduated from the University of
Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree and graduated from the
University of Texas Law School with a Doctor of Jurisprudence
degree. He served in the Texas House of Representatives where he
represented District 99 composed of Andrews, Dawson, Gaines, and
Lynn counties from 1951 to 1955. He entered law practice in
Lubbock in 1959. He was a member and past president of the
Lubbock Junior Chamber of Commerce and was a member and board
member of the State Junior Bar Association and former member of
the ABC Club. He was a member of the Lubbock County Bar
Association, the. Texas Bar Association, the American Bar
Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and the Lubbock
Downtown Rotary Club. He was a member of the First Christian
Church where he served on the Board of Deacons and taught the
Harvester's Sunday School Class.
He is survived by two daughters, Carolynn Elizabeth Cobb of
Dallas and Martha Anne Parkman of Clifton; two grandchildren,
Haley Irene and Heath Carroll Parkman of Clifton.
Pallbearers were Dan W. Davis, Joe R. Horkey, Harry Jung, Cecil
Kuhne, Tom Purdom, Reed Quillam, Travis Shelton, and Dean
Shuman.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock or to your
favorite charity.
COY L. SHARP
1943-1993
Services for Coy L. Sharp, 50, of Odessa, and formerly of
Seminole, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at First Baptist
Church of Odessa with the Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating.
Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens of Odessa under the
direction of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Dir.
Mr. Sharp died Wednesday, June 2, 1993, at his residence in
Oklahoma. He nuWed
Barbara Howard on June 24, 1988 in Odessa. He moved to Odessa
from Midland in 1961. He taught English, speech and journalism at
Seminole from >1966-1968. He was a member of the Southwest
Theater Conference, American Association of Community Theaters,
and a past member of the Texas Commission of Fine Arts. He served
as a judicator for U.I.L. state and regional competitions.
He narrated the Living Christmas Tree, Life of Christ, and the
patriotic celebration at First Baptist Church of Odessa where he was
an active member. He directed the annual First Lady Benefit at the
Presidential Museum. Mr. Sharp was Director of the Permian
Playhouse of Odessa for 14 years. During his military time, he was in
the office of special investigation and was active with Korean
Orphanages.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Aaron of New Orleans, LA;
one step-daughter, Margaret Whitehead of Midland; and one sister,
Metitia McCreery of San Angelo.
Rotarians hear
about crusade
to Russia
Randy King spoke to
Seminole Rotary Club Thursday
about his recent trip and
experiences to Kiev, Ukraine in
Russia.
King was one of 13 adult
supervisor* *16flg with a group of
23 students from throughout the
U.S. participating in "Student
Venture" tour in the country
April 4-18.
King, a local employee of
Amerada Hess, who has lived in
Seminole since 1965, told the
Club that the group was readily
allowed to bring the Christian
message into the schools at Kiev
and were allowed to distribute
about 4,000 Bibles and other
Christian literature. He said their
message was well received.
King also showed slide
photographs of buildings,
churches, transportation, and
people they were involved with.
During the club's business
session, president Jessie Mendoza
acknowledge the team
distributing the flags on
Memorial Day and made
assignments for the June 14 and
July 4 flag days. Also program
assignments were made for the
rest of the month.
