Humana Shopping Mall Festival Friday
The Humana Seniors Associa-
tion and Humana Hospital-
Baytown will host the first
Humana Shopping Mall Festival
at San Jacinto Mall Sept. 23-25.
“The Mall Festival is an event
showcasing the active and in-
volved lifestyles of today’s 50
plus consumer,” said Kate Bitt-
ner, R.N., adviser of the
Humana Seniors Association at
Humana Hospital-Baytown.
The Humana Seniors Associa-
tion is a national, non-profit
organization with 73 chapters
based at Humana Hospitals
across the nation. The Seniors
Association at Humana
Hospital-Baytown has more than
3,000 members.
The mall festival will kick off
at noon Sept. 23 with a “Senior
Mallwalk.” All participants will
receive a commemorative but-
ton.
Joan Ralston, R.N., M.S.W.,
the national spokesperson for
the Humana Seniors Associa-
tion, will be on hand to welcome
all participants and challenge
everyone to take a step toward a
healthier lifestyle by completing
the mile-long Mallwalk.
A long-time seniors advocate,
Ms. Ralston is a registered nurse
and licensed clinical social
worker. While in private prac-
tice, she worked with the Council
on Aging and she has helped in-
dividuals and concerned
organizations develop methods
of more effectively dealing with
mature adults as their health
and needs change.
She is on a cross-country tour
of more than 30 cities, speaking
out on seniors issues and sharing
tips on why “living well is the
best revenge!”
The Humana Shopping Mall
Festival will include exhibits
and displays from Holland
America Line, which will have a
drawing for a free, seven-day
cruise for two to Alaska; the
"Humana Seniors Association
