Speakers at Westminster
World Council officials to be here
Westminster Presbyterian
Church, 7600 Bayway Drive,
will host two representatives of
the World Council of Churches
this weekend. Dr. Heinz
Joachim Held and the Rev.
Huiberdina Stavenga-van der
Waals will be speaking at 6:30
p.m. Saturday and during the
11 a.m. worship service Sun-
day.
The Rev. Randolph R. Bran-
son will lead worship and
preach “When We Doubt Our
Mission.’’
Church school is at 9:30 a.m.
Sunday. Dr. Held will be
leading the adult Bible class
and the Rev. Stavenga-van der
Waals will participate in the
special topics adult class.
At 10:40 a.m. Sunday a
fellowship time will be held in
the fellowship hall.
Alcoholics Anonymous and
Al-Anon will meet at the church
at 8 p.m. Monday.
Choir will rehearse at 7:30
p.m. Wednesday.
FIRST
Sunday morning activities at
First Presbyterian Church,
1715 Market Street, begin with
handbell choir rehearsal at 8
a.m. in Room 102. Mrs. Eleanor
Albon is the director.
Church school begins at 9
a.m. in
building.

10:30 a.m. with the Rev.
Burnette W. Dowler bringing
the message. Susan Jentho and
Doug Dugatare in charge of the
finances and Art Ritter is in
charge of the building.
Canned goods and staples
will be collected Sunday morn-
ing during the monthly “Food
Pantry Sunday” drive. Food
will be distributed through the
church’s food pantry during the
week.
The Christian Education
Committee !s sponsoring a
Teachers Workshop in the
Fellowship Hall at noon. Reser-
vations may be made with Ver-
na Pratt.
The office will be closed on
Monday in observance of
Memorial Day.
The Youth Fellowship meets
on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the
Fellowship Hall. Hosts for this
week are the Brocklemans and
Lebouef.
The Christian Education
Committee will hold its mon-
thly meeting at 7 p.m. on
Thursday, June 1, in Room 204
while the worship committee
meets in the parlor.
Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-
Anon, Adult Children of
Alcoholics and the Campfire
Girls meet at the church during
the week. Call the church office
at 422-2938 for information.
First Christian Church activities planned
Sunday activities at First
Christian Church, 201 Forrest,
will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Sun-
day school classes. There will be
a nursery.
Dr. Mike Weinman, pastor,
will preach at the 10:50 a.m. ser-
vice. He will be assisted by
James Mick, who will serve as
worship leader by leading the
responsive reading and giving
the invocation.
Terry Wahl and Carolyn
Ducote, elders, will serve at the
communion table. Preparation
of communion will be presided
over by Howard and Minetta
Dickerson.
Ron McLeod will be deacon
chairman. Jim and Judy Foran
will be greeters. Acolytes will be
Ben Brown and Charlie Lintz.
Immediately after church a
reception will be held in Wood
Hall as a farewell gesture for
Dann, Kathy and Scotty Flaher-
ty, who are moving to Sioux City,
Church on the Rock
services to be held
Sunday morning services are
set for 10:30 a.m. with Pastor
Thomas Meekins ministering.
The congregation praise singers
will be ministering in m.usic.
Children’s church will begin
after the praise and worship por-
tion for ages 3-11.
Sunday evening beginning at 6
p.m. all members and their
guests will meet in assigned
homecare groups for a time of
praise and worship, prayer and
a teaching on the Bible.
Wednesday night teaching ser-
vice begins at 7:14 p.m. with
Meekins teaching. Junior Youth
will meet after the praise portion
of the service. Youth will also
meet.

gospel church under the
ministry of Dr. Larry Lea and
Church on the Rock North
America headquartered in
Rockwall, Texas.

Decker Drive. For more in-
formation concerning the church
and services, call 424-3313. A
nursery is provided for all the
services.
Ronnie Trice to preach
Iowa. They have been active
members for several years.
The children’s choir will
rehearse at 4:30 p.m. They CYF
and Chi Rho youth groups will
meet at 5 p.m. Chancel choir will
rehearse at 6:30 p.m.
The elders will meet at 7 p.m.
Wednesday.
The Rev. Ronnie Trice will
preach in the Sunday 10:45 a.m.
and 7 p.m. worship services at
Maranatha Temple. Midweek
service is Wednesday at 7:30
p.m. A nursery and children’s
church are provided at all of
these services.
Bible study is at 9:45 .am. The
Youth meets each Wednesday at
7:30 p.m. in the gym.

Meadlowlark Lemon will be
ministering June 4-5.
College and Career will go to
Lake Sam Rayburn June 9-11 for
a camp out. The cost is $35 per
person. Contact the church at

June 3, the 4-11-year-old Maranatha is located on
children’s church will be in the Highway 146 in Mont Belvieu.
