al Musk Program presented in De-
Berry Tuesday night, November

played a piano solo, "To A Wild
Rose" by MacDowell. and Doris
Shivers played “Dance of the Ross
Buds” by Keats.

on the club program Saturday
were Patsy Bush, Glynda Beth
Brooks, and Dianne Cartey.
The club conselor, Mrs. Ross,
conducted a Parliamentary Quiz
for whkh Johnnie Lou Brooks
a composer statuette.
Dianne Carley had charge of
the Quiz on the Keyboard Jr. Mag-
ssine. Betty Faye Colemon won the
statuette for having completed pen
feet answers first In the group.
Daniel Lloyd Ross gave the story
of the “Doxology” better known to
some as “Old Hundred". Dianne
Carley played this hymn for the
club.
Delicious refreshments were
served by the hostesses, asskted
by their mother, to the club mem-
bers and four guests: Mrs. Glynn
Brooks. Mrs W. R. Holland. Mil-
ton Brooks, and Sara Wall.

League are feverishly planning

their sccood annual Christinas Be-
ar.
Dixie Whitaker as chairman of
the Basaar has a very competent
mmlttee in Jean Brown, Patri-
cia Davis. Rosalyce Loker and
Frances Robinson. The sale will be
held on Saturday. December 4. at
the Community House and Christ-
mas dbeorations. gifts, toys and
baked goods will be on display
The Basaar will be open from tep
until four on Saturday Members

Pink and Blue Shower
Mrs. Aubrey Wedgeworth of
Snap was honoreo at a Pink and
Blue Shower Tuesday afternoon
from 2 to 4, at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Brooks,
in the Brooks Community.
Mrs. Bonnie Brown and Mrs.
Patricia Dunn were winners of pri-
zes given for games played.
After the many lovely gifts were
opened and displayed, refreshments
of sandwiches. cookies, coffee and
Cokes were served to the follow-
ing guests: Mmes. Sue Smith and
Betsy of McCamey, Lucille McMil-
lan and baby, Winnie May Gentry,
Kathy and Robert Ray of Delray,
Vivian Crosby. Henderson. Joe
Wedgeworth and Dannie of Clay-
ton, Ruby Wedgeworth, Snap, Ju-
anita Clinton, Edna Johnson, Grace
Kelly and Dannie, Virginia Woods,
and Charlie. Carthage
Also Mmes. Lorene Nelson, Gl-
adys Woods, Eunice Dunn, Eunice
Nelson, Esther Waldrop, Billy Gen-
try, Lilly Waits. Blanchie Bridges,
Betty Wsldrop, Monnk Lou Holl-
and, Mary Dene Walk. Helen Gen-
try, Sandra, Jimmie Brooks, Bon-
nie Brown, Patricia Dunn and Jim-
mk Dale, Lorene Gentry, Mary
Gentry, Besaie Pellham. Many who
were unable to attend sent gifts.
Co-hostesses with Mrs. Jem
Brooks were Mrs. Margarette Yeu-
ng of Carthage. Mrs. Lillian Brooks
and Mrs. Margie Brooks.
The November meeting of the
Beckville Musk Club wss held in
the home of Mrs. Ruby Barber
and Mias Faye Davidson with Mrs.
A. J. Cole, Mrs. C. R- May and Mrs.
Paul Carter, co-hostesses. The spa-
cious rooms were decorated with
fall flowers and autumn leaves in
their many lovely colors.
Mrs. Ruby Barber led the group
in singing "Texas, Our Texas", and
Mrs. Paul Carter read the Feder-
ation Collect. Mrs. J. L. Yarbor-
ough, president, presided at the
business session when plans were
made for the Christmas party.
Mrs. Minter gave an interesting
report on the convention held at
Athens. Mrs. J. L. Yarborough re-
ported on the tea given for Mrs.
Ada Holding Miller. National pre-
sident at Kilgore and Mrs. Ruby
Barber gave a report on Junior
Day at the convention in Athens.
Mrs. Jewel Gamer was leader for
the program on “Contemporary In-
ternational Musk Relations”. Mrs.
Del Moore sang “Mamselle Marie”
and Mrs. Lloyd Brooks discussed
“Musk in The Home.” A piano so-
lo. “Serenade" from student Prince,
was played by Miss Barbara Prui-
tt. Mrs. R. V. Davidson 8r. and
Mrs. Del Moore gave a piano duet.
“Second Hungarian Rhapaody" by
Lists and Mrs. Ruby Barber led the
group in singing the Hymn of the
month.
A salad course was served at the
close of the meeting to 22 members
and two guests, Mrs. Mollis B.
Crawford and Barbara Pruitt.
The refreshment table was laid
with a green cloth centered with
a cornucopia filled with fall flow-
ers, leaves and fruit In related col-
ors of yellow. Barbara Pruitt play-
ed soft musk daring the hour.

saa City, Kan., Mrs. Janette Pitt-
man Dixon of Midland, Mrs. Cor-
ine Pittman Beard and granddaug-
hter of Muskogee. Okla.. Mrs. Ma-
die Park of Ft. Worth were Car-
thage visitors Monday and Tues
day. The Pittman girls, who were
reared in Carthsge, visited their
aunts, Mrs. Zaddie Edwards and
Mrs. Capitols Morrison. Mrs. Park
was here to attend the O. E. S.
meeting at whkh her akter, Mrs.
Pagk Hooker, along with Mrs
Gladys Rom and Spence Ray. was
awarded a life membership in O.

easurer, and Shirley Lawrence, re-
porter are heading the drive by
the student council for old toys.
The Council will take any toy.
preferably small ones, such as
dolls, game sets, or any other, that
has been discarded by local citi-
sens, and remodel them for the
Christmas Basket containing gifts
for the underpriviledged children
this Christmas.
Anyone having toys that have
been abandoned, please bring them
to Junior High School Office, or
call there, and some of the stud-
ents will call for them at any home
in the city.

Jimmy Crawford on
His Seventh Birthday
Mrs.* James Crawford entertain-
ed a group of friends of her little
son. Jimmy, after school Tuesday
with a weiner roast at her home,
honoring Jimmy on his seventh
birthday.
The children came hcaae with
Jimmy from school and Mrs. Craw-
ford had a bonfire ready on the
lawn where the boys prepared their
stkks, roasted weiners and aundi-
mallows. ,_
They chose sides and played
football and ether games after
whkh they sang "Happy Birth
day” and the gifts were opened.

School in 1953 At present she is
in Nurses Training at Scott and
