daughter, Debra Lynn Archer,
born at Beton Hospital at Aus-
tin, September 16, 1966, at 10:16
a. m. She weighed seven pounds
and ten and one-half ounces.

of Eden and paternal grandpar-
ents are Mrs. Bruce Archer Sr.
of Goldthwalte and the late Mr.
Archer. Paternal great-grand-
parents are Mr. and Mrs. L. V.

Mrs. Alta Frlzzelle was honor-
ed at a retirement party given
by Southwestern States Tele-
phone Company employees at
the Holiday Inn In Brownwood,
last week Monday, September
12.
Mrs. Frlzzelle retired Septem-
ber 2, 1966, after 42 years service
with the Company. She began
her telephone career June 17,
1924, joining the Company at
Goldthwalte as an operator. In
July, 1930, she was promoted to
cashier-chief operator and con
tlnued in that position until
June. 1957, when the Ooldth-
walte exchange was converted
to dial, she continued to serve
as cashier.
She has witnessed many
changes in telephony and In the

two day accounting clinic held
In San Antonio last Thursday
and Friday.
The two day school was for

Goldthwalte exchange since
June. 1924. In 1924, the Goldth-
walte exchange was owned by
the West Texas Telephone Com-
pany and served approximately
100 customers, using a magneto
switchboard and the crank-type
telephones. In 1928 the West
Texas Telephone Company sold
Its holdings to Southwestern
8tates Telephone Company. In
1937, Southwestern States con-
verted the exchange to common
battery and thus ended the use
of the crank-type telephone.
There were 375 telephones In
service at the time of the con-
version. Then In 1957 the Gold-
thwalte exchange was converted
to dial having 600 telephone
users at that time.
Mrs. Frizzelle said she has en-
joyed her many years with the
Company, but Is looking for-
ward to retirement and plans to
devote a great deal of time to
her painting and art work.

Its sixty-first year with a coffee
In the home of Mrs. Norman
Duren, with Mrs. John A. Hester
co-hostess, Thursday, Septem-
ber 22.
After a very Interesting busi-
ness session Mrs. O. H. Yarbor-
ough led the program and Mrs.
Walter Summy gave the Invoca-
tion.
Mrs. Duren, the new president
gave an Inspiring message and
Mrs. C. A. Keeler read the Con-
stitution and By-Laws. Mrs.
Paul D. Henderson talked on
the programs for the year and
gave a preview of each meeting
and distributed the new year-
books.

September 11 in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Berry, honor-
ing four persons of five genera-
tions.
Grandmother, Mrs. Tera Ber-
ry, being the first and oldest,
was 90 years old; Charlie Berry
and Eunice O’Neal, the second
and third generation respect-
fully; also 8haron O’Neal, dau-
ghter of the late Dewayne O’-
Neal, was the fifth generation
member honored.
The four honorees have birth-
days In September but not on
the same date. Sharon was not
