Stubbs-Deck Wedding Rites Solemnized
At First Baptist Church Here Last Friday
Miss Mattie Lou Deck and John
J. Stubbs were united in mar-
riage at 6:30 p m. Friday July 6,
in the First Baptist Church. The
Rev. J. D. Barnes read the dou-
ble ring ceremony before an altar
arrangtment of white flowers
consisting of stock, gladiolus,
mums and greenery.
The bride, given in menage
bv her father, is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. Deck and
the groom is the son of Mr. and
M's. George D Stubbs.
Mrs. Lloyd E. Vinson of Bur-
as, La., sister of the bride, was
matron of honor and Bobbie Wil-
son was best man.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Stubbs are
graduates of Wortham High. The
groom also attended Navarro
Junior College and Baylor Uni-
versity.
The bride wore a lovely ankle
length gown of white silk bro-
caded taffeta and a shoulder
length veil which fell from a
crown of seed pearls. Her flow-
ers were white carnations. Mrs.
Vinson wore an Identical gown
in blue taffeta with pink carna-
tion*;.
Only the immediate families
of the bride and groom attended
the service.
After a short wedding trip the
couple are at home in Wortham.

Ladies’ Auxiliary Of
Presbyterian Church
Has Meeting Monday
The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the
Presbyterian Church met Mon-
day afternoon at four o’c'cck in
the home of Mrs. T. I. Sandlin.
The meeting opened with the
singing of "Wonderful Wqrds
of Life” and prayer led Mis.
Sandlin.
Mrs. Harry T. Bounds, presi-
dent, presided during the bus-
iness meeting. The Christmas
caid project sale was discussed
and the samples have arrived
and members were urged to
place heir orders early.
An announcement was made
that Area II of Waco Preshterial
wiU meet in Wortham on Octo-
ber 3.
Mrs. Gus&ie Weaver led in
prayer for the missionaries from
Yiaibook of Prayer.
Mr-. John Monroe had charge
of the lesson on the Medical Mis-
sion Summer Projects for mod-
ernizing and expanding build-
ings and facilities in West Afri-
ca and a widened school and
public health program in Cuba.
At the conclusion of the les-
sor., “Bless Bp tne' Tie that
B.nds” was sung and a special
summer offering was taken.
There will be no meetings of
the Auxiliary during August.
Mi rubers are urged to vis’t sick
mi m'bers and shut-ins.
Refreshments were served by
the hostess to 15 members

The annual Lee reunion was
held July 4 at Harcrow Lake
one and one-half miles south of
Buffalo. One hundied and one
attended the reunion from Big
Springs, Lufkin, Groveton, La-
Mtique, Apple Springs, Oak-
wood, League City, MeCamey,
Centerville, Ft. Worth, Houston,
Buffalo, Tehuacana and Worth-
am.
Those attending from Wortham
included Mr. and Mrs R. H. Lee,
Mr and Mrs. W A Loveless and
Mrs. Elsie Johnson.
It was decided to have the te-
union at the same place next
year.
Arnold Keeling was in Hous-
ton Monday and was accompan-
ied home bv his two sons who
will visit him and his parents,
Mr, and Mrs. Roy Keeling, for
several weeks.
Mrs. Mark Gorman went to
Sherman on Tuesday to be with
her sister, Mrs. H. P. Cross, who
is seriously ill.
Mrs. Clifford- Calame and Sar-
ah Crowson of Corsicana spent
Saturday dinner guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Mark Gorman were
Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Gorman Sr.
