Now that President Ford
has signed the Metric Conver-
sion Act, the move to metric is
inevitable. In an effort to keep
< pace, Dimension presents the
second part of its move to
metric series
Temperature will change
from degree Fahrenheit to
degree Celsius. Water boils at
IflOdegrees Celsius and freezes
at 0 degrees Celsius. That is
easier to remember than 212
degrees Fahrenheit and 32
degrees Fahrenheit.
Some comparisons dre: a
slow oven is 149 degrees C. and
300 degrees F.; a moderate
oven is 177 degrees C. and 350
degrees F.; a hot oven is 218
degrees C. and 425 degrees F.
Normal body temperature will

centimeters, cups to milliliters
and pounds to kilograms.
Measuring cups are now be-
ing marked in metric units on
one side and the traditional 8.

other.
The metric units are based
on a liter or 1000 ml. This, in
turn, is divided into quarter ■
liters of 250 ml. Fortunately,
this volume of 250 ml. is
similar to the basic 1 cup of 8
ounces that has been the stan-
dard in the past.
