On 25th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Armando DeLeon,

Plachy's Celebrate
Golden Anniversary
As memories of wedding bells re-
sounded, Joe and Evelyn Plachy
celebrated their golden anniversary
Sunday, Sept. 23.
They were honored by their
children and grandchildren with a
family dinner and reception at San-
dia First Baptist Church.
Following Sunday morning wor-
ship immediate members of the
Plachy family gathered in the
educational building and were serv-
ed a delicious luncheon which of-
fered numerous dishes.
Joe and Evelyn were elated to
have several of their brothers and
sisters attend. They were Mary
Reed of Sandia, Rosie Skoruppa of
Corpus Christi, Lilly Roschetzky of
Annaville, Annie Stacy of Ingleside
and Wilma Fraizer of Robstown.
Thoughts of Tressie Downs, Frank
Plachy and Millie Roberts were with
them as they were not able to attend.
Special guests were friends of
many years including their pastor,
Rev. and Mrs. Audie Morris, and
Father Tletter of Alice.
Well wishes and congratulations
were received from approximately
100 guests from Orange Grove, Vic-
toria, Beeville, Corpus Christi,
Robstown, Liberty, Sinton, Alice and
Ingleside.
Host and hostesses included Mr.
and Mrs. Gaylon Lafield of Victoria
and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Boening of
Orange Grove. They were assisted
in serving by grandchildren Debbie
Meyers, Cheryl Lane, Tonya Ortiz,
and nieces Cindy Kolle and Karen
Gerla. Luncheon servers were Min-
nie Monroe and Elois Barham.
The bride’s table was covered in
white linen, and featured a silver
punch bowl and crystal service.
Guests were served a lovely
decorated yellow cake which was
adorned with traditional wedding
bells and topped with a 50 year orna-
ment in tribute to the couple’s years
together. The three-tiered confec-
tion, with three side layers, was iced
with blue and white butter icing and
served with gold colored fruit punch
made by granddaughter Cheryl
Lane of Arrowhead.
The groom’s table, also covered in
white linen, featured a silver coffee
service and a delicious pear cake
with cream cheese and coconut ic-
ing. The confection was a five-bell
arrangement which too, was a gift
from Cheryl Lane.
The couple was radiant as they
greeted their guests throughout the
afternoon. Besides them were their
daughters, Francis Lafield and Bar-
bara Boening. They were elated to
have their seven grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren present for
the occasion.
As the couple related their years
of marriage they told of the original
wedding day on Sept. 17,1934, which
was in Round Rock. When asked how
the years had blessed them they
each were quick to reply that the
time together had passed quite
quickly, in fact, neither felt that 50
years had passed.
Everyone marveled at the glow
the couple radiated during the
celebration. The younger wedded
couples were encouraged to know
that true love lingers on for many
beautiful years.
