• Unofficial.
It will be noted that the figures from San Augustine
and Newton counties are unofficial, but they will not mater-
ially change the result.
;v
There are fourteen counties in the District. Let’s Divide them into three groups* and consider the vote in each.
GROUP 1—Harrison, Cherokee, Panola, Shelby, Angelina.
GROUP 2—Nacogdoches, Jasper, Sabine, Sea Augustine.
GROUP 3—■Jefferson, Orange, Tyler, Hardin, Newton.
«
There were 21,272 votes cast in Group 1, and Judge Box received 10,955; Collins 3,656; the other candidates 6661.
Note that Box received more than half the votes in this group, and that Collins received not much more than half as many
votes as were cast for the eliminated candidates.
> • ; >
There were 10,046 votes cast in Group 2, and Box received 2296; Collins 2216; the other candidates 5584. It
may be said that taking these counties as a group, they were almost neutral as between Box and Collins, a majority of the
votes being cast for the eliminated candidates.
There were 15,351 votes cast in Group 3, of which Box received only 566; Collins 7024; the other candidates
Note that the eliminated candidates received more votes than Box and Collins combined.
7761.
There were 19,956 votes
. The race is now to be run off between Box and Collins, with Box leading by 921 votes,
cast for the eliminated candidates in the first primary, and these votes will decide the contest.
Judge Box will receiye at least seventy-five per cent of the King and O’Brien vote, and will be elected by a ma-
jority of not less than 5000, in our opinion.
Both King and O’Brien are now supporting Judge Box, and their friends are doing likewise. This means that
Box will make great gains in Group 3, where he was hardly known ip the first race. He will also make enormous gains in
Group 2, in all of the counties of that group, but more particularly .in Nacogdoches, where there were 2126 King votes re-
leased by the result of the first primary. In Group 1 he will sweep the A dd, by a much larger majority than before.
There is only one thing that needs to be done—HELP GET CUT A PULL VOTE AT THE PRIMARY ON SATUR-
DAY, AUGUST 24th!—IF THIS IS DONE, THERE IS NOT A DOUBT AS 70 WHAT THE RESULT WILL BEt—
Box Will Go tt ingress!
