FLIGHT SCHOOL FOR WOMEN FERRY PILOTSN THE BROAD bending plains of West Texas, near the city of Sweet-
I)water, is Avenger Field, where Aviation Enterprises Ltd., operates
an extensive program for the U. S. Army Air Forces in the training of girl
pilots of the Women's Flying Training Detachment. This unique pilot train-
ing plant is the only one of its kind in the nation.
Here hundreds of young women from all sections of the United States
enthusiastically apply their efforts in mastering the rigid curriculum of
aviation training as an avenue of service to their country.
When a trainee at Avenger Field graduates, she is competent to fly
any size Army trainer and has the ground work for fast combat and
larger aircraft, learning everything that regular army pilots master except
