WASP Commemorative Stamp (Nancy Crews) and Documentary Film (Mary
Jones) - A suggestion that we try to get a WASP Commemorative Stamp
issued by the Post Office had been received. The Post Master General
has been contacted for guidelines on requesting a commemorative stamp.
Also suggested we explore possibility of having a documentary film made
by one of the broadcasting companies.
ACTION REQUIRED: Nancy Crews to follow-up on Post Master General contact
to determine requirements. Dottie Young to contact Fay Gilles Wells
about discussing the documentary.
WASP Wings (Nancy Crews) - A collector from Bay City, Texas, has
asked Order of Fifinella for a set of WASP wings. The Board agreed all
such requests should be referred to and handled by the Historian and the
Museum Committee. When they become available, it was agreed that sale
of WASP wings or other WASP Insignia would be to WASP graduates only.
ACTION REQUIRED: Mary Jones to contact Ann "Rooney" Atkeison to determine
if she will be able to make WASP wings available through her studio. If
not, arrange with the same manufacturer of Fifi pins to have some made.
Use of Order of Fifinella Disney Insignia by Non-WASP (Nancy Crews) -
Discussion regarding use of Fifinella Insignia by a non-WASP contestant
in Powder Puff Derby. Board agreed this was inappropriate.
ACTION REQUIRED: Dottie Young will investigate and report to Nancy.
Order of Fifinella Award - The Board decided that, to continue this
award, a selection panel should be appointed and accomplish the following:
1) Define criteria more specifically.
2) Establish the mechanics for getting nominations and submit
to the Board for approval.
3) Handle the review of nominations and make the final selection
of winner at each reunion. However, presentation of the
award at each reunion is not mandatory.
4) Keep records of all recipients.
ACTION REQUIRED: Nancy Crews to appoint selection panel of 5 members.
Memorial Marker for WASPs Killed in Service (Mary Jones) - Discussion
on this proposal brought out the fact there already is such a memorial
marker in the Pentagon.
