Tennesse to his son JOHN SPURGIN (III) 1818-1892, residing in Collin

October the 21st 1869 at home a very Rainy day
Dear son and Daughter I imbrace this oportunity of writing you a
few lines to let you know that we are all well as common at
present and hope these lines may find you all well I have nothing
particular to Riet the Country is tolerable healthy this Season
we have had a very dry Summer and corn crops is very light there
is a great deal of wheat and oats and hay flour is worth $7 per
barrel corn one dollar oats 45 cents bacon 25 beef 6 cts per
pound Butter twenty five to thirty Eggs 15 per dozen Chicken
20 cts and Store goods is low there has been Several deaths
since I rote to you last old Samuel Stephens is dead ther has
been a geat Tevival of Religion with the baptist. ther was
84 made profession at muddy Creek and one hundred and four at
Blountville Brother Kean has Baptised on hundred
