Last Saturday, Capt. Johnson went to Piano and addressed the dear people. K.R.
CRAIG followed him, and then Hon. B. GIBBS spoke of the grand old Democratic
party of the State in glowing terms. / Miss Nellie LAMPTON is very sick. /
?. L. HILL has returned from a visit to Mississippi. / Rev. J.W. HILL goes this
week to deliver the Baccalaureate address for the North Texas Female College at
Sherman. / Eld. C.W. SEWELL, of the Christian Church, has gone to Gainesville to
hold a protracted meeting.
We understand that Judge ANDREWS is now preparing to erect a new dwelling and
barn. The Judge has a lovely place now, and when he improves it as his fastidious
eye wants it, he will have the prettiest place in the city. / Mr. Charley
PARKER has gone to Dallas to accept a position with the Herald. / Little Major,
infant son of Major and Icy BROWN, died on Saturday evening at 8:30 o'clock. /
Dr. G.W. PATTERSON left yesterday for Roanoke, Denton Co.
For the second meeting of "West Collin Primary Institute", to convene at "Wesley's
Chapel", 12 miles west of McKinney and 2 miles south west of Rhea's Mill, June

Copied from a page plate displayed by the Star Courier as part of an exhibit on
"Off-set Printing Procedures" at the Cultural Arts Center of Piano. The original
page is owned by John Wells of Piano.
The Plano Review was one of 3 papers that were forerunners of the Star Courier.
The other two were the Plano Star and the Piano Courier. They were merged in
1889 to form the Piano Star-Courier.
Married at Richardson on the 18th inst., Mr. Sam LAIR to Miss Annie PRIGMORE,
Rev. Mr. BUTLER officiating. / James THORNTON and Mollie WAINSCOTT were joined
in wedlock at the residence of the brides parents, on the 22nd inst. / Somebody
went to our bachelor's home during the holidays and played a Xmas trick. A ham
of meat was put in the bed, and an improvised woman was propped up in the floor.
There are some people in this world who never can learn the eternal fitness of
things. / Wesley SCHIMELPFENIG took a run over to Fort Worth this week. / H.C.
OVERAKER went over to Sherman on an errand of business this week.
Get married, settle down and go to work, is the kind of advice which is being
heeded in Piano. / The heathen Chinee has moved into the LAMM storehouse, back
of ALEXANDER Bros. grocery store. / There was more whiskey sold in Piano Xmas
week than ever before in the same length of time. / Prof. PORTMAN is receiving
many compliments from his patrons and his pupils are making rapid progress. /
There was an elegant dinner at the MOORE house on Xmas day. The young men
boarders presented Mrs. MOORE a handsome rocking chair. / Notice: Any person
knowing the whereabouts of the platt of the Masonic Cemetery, will please
