Practicing Liberation
VALERIE PERRINE, star of the new “Can’t Stop the
Mnslc," believes being equal is wonderful, but being spe-
cial Is divine.
HOLLYWOOD (NEA) -
There is no ouestion to which
sex Valerie Perrine belongs.
She is obviously female, and
proud of it.
She is not, however, mili-
tant, and that fact lately has
begin to irk some of her more
active sisters. Valerie Perrine
is the type of woman who
practices liberation, .but
doesn't preach it.
“I'm probably one of the
most liberated women
around," says Valerie. "I have
always supported myself. I’ve
never been married. I have no
kids."
She is supporting herself
admirably these days,
career goes on, not perhaps as
. richly as she would like, in
terms of acting parts, but still
highly profitably* Hollywood

the fact that anybody who
looks as luscious as she dtfes
can also act.

“As I get older," she says,
“I find mvnelf changing and
some things that seemed
impossible some years ago
now seem very attractive."
However, she talks about
something the average middle
American movie fan may find
hard to believe: the difficulty

Valerie Perrine is, she

Transfers to a major are a
cinch here. You bid three dia-
monds for hearts and three
hearts for Spades.
Minor transfers present
some difficulty since they
would tate you past three

practise is to use three spades
as a general minor-suit hand,
“for a woman is wonderful,
but being special is divine.
That’s not something I made
up, it’s a quote I heard some-
where, but I like it.
“After all, men and women
are not equal. I’m sorry, but
that’s the truth. I don’t think'

Oswald Jacoby has played
exactly one hand at a major-,

that was a mistake. His two-
